HeraldNet.com - Child dies hours after social workers close case | social working | Scoop.it

My thoughs:

I think this just shows how powerful having this job is. I think that moms like this SHOULD NOT me able to have kids. This is so tragic and makes me want to cry. What did that 19 month year old ever do to her mom? Being a social worker would be so rewarding if you could stop stuff like this!! the article says, ""Social workers are required to make reasonable efforts to keep the family together. Social workers offer services and if the family says 'no,' the social worker must decide if there is such a level of risk that the child should be placed out of the home," Gilbert said. "The challenge is the balancing act between supporting, maintaining and strengthening families and keeping children safe." If i were the social worker i would have taken the kids away because maybe one would be alive today.

My Thoughts:

This article talks about  an overview of the defined benefit OAI (old age insurance) program. This article is basically directed to social workers to bring attention to the election perspective on social welfare for old people. I believe that the OAI is a good idea, the article says "OAI has accounted for this is through the progressive redistribution of benefits, whereby individuals with lower lifetime earnings receive a relatively higher retirement benefit" I think if you worked hard your whole life than you deserve to die with money.

Defense.gov News Article: Social Workers Join Movement to Support Military Families | social working | Scoop.it

My thoughts:

i think that this was a good idea for social workers to help support military fmailies! there are military families everywhere that need help, there are also social workers everywhere so that is the best way to reach everyone! the article says "Similar to agreements doctors’ and nurses’ associations have made with Joining Forces, the NASW, which represents more than 650,000 social workers, has pledged support beginning this fall," i think the more people who get to help the better! the military does so much for us.
