#Google just took its wearable project to a much smaller level -- like, your eyeball smaller...

Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

And so we moved from #wearable to #insertable.

Google launches contact lens device to help those with diabetes to control the level of glucose in the blood. This opens a new horizon for sensors managed via wireless.

Thinking about many releases of new technological gadgets (like UP by Jawbone) #Health and well being are always on the cutting edge in technology.

VP9 | The New Standard For Video Encoding?

VP9 | The New Standard For Video Encoding? | Social Web Innovation | Scoop.it
Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

Google has been working for some time to an open source compressor for high quality video and at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (Jan 7-10  2014) will present the new format VP9, which offers 4k video compatibility and optimization for Internet bandwidth consumption, ensuring a great flow with a band from 7mb.

Until now it was imposed as compressor the H264 format and soon to be released will be the version H265 that will support 4k video quality.

VP9 is characterized by being free and open source and by its strategic alliances with leading hardware and software manufacturers including LG, Sony, Intel, Samsung, NVidia etc..

The further thing, not least, to imagine that VP9 might become the new standard format is that YouTube, of course, will adopt this format, and just at the CES will demonstrate streaming video using the new VP9.

H265 against VP9 : What will be the standard ?

Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:
  • 65 grams
  • Android OS
  • optical system
  • bluetooth connection.
This is the recipe of Glass Up, an italian startup which is launching augmented eyewear, and they are doing before Google Glass

The glasses receive, via mobile app, all the relevant information, notifications from social networks, driving directions, subtitles to movies, simultaneous translation, etc. and projects them onto the lens of the glasses.

They are on Indiegogo and they're looking for $150,000

but apart from Indiegogo, they will be launching the product in September 2013.

Visible Cloud Live | Twitter at the Stadium | Rome

Visible Cloud Live | Twitter at the Stadium | Rome | Social Web Innovation | Scoop.it
Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

Twitter, as we all know, is one of the channels of communication among the most effective.Obama’s election, Tsunami and Hearthquake in Japan, Arab SpringDalai Lama, Pope and more, definitely gives authority to Twitter not indifferent.

The use of the tool from 140 characters is promoted in more and more situations and lately in many Tv shows in which they have their own account and their hashtags.

Today at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, on maxi screens was in action Visible Cloud Live the web service that I have designed for select and visualize messages from social networks, expecially useful during events.

The AsRoma has used to display the best twitts of supporters ahead of the Coppa Italia final and derby city.

Well, I don’t like particularly football, I was born in Naples and I have it into the blood but I am subscribed to AsRome almost ten years, so today I saw the match Roma-Napoli (2-0) and also the Visible Cloud Live on the big screen.

istella | Italian search engine

istella | Italian search engine | Social Web Innovation | Scoop.it

istella is a different search-engine that speaks italian language and culture, recognizes and describes the various aspects of Italian identity.

While the current search-engines explore only the web, istella can take advantage of the immense heritage of historical archives and books, encyclopedias, historical maps, national magazines and the content published by users, non-indexed so far.

Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

The search engine is becoming increasingly sophisticated, semantic search, graph search by Facebook and the surprise that Google will pull out in a short time. In Italy after the case Volunia, there is a new search engine, a new star: istella

I was immediately fascinated when I saw as the page background a photo of Naples.

Who knows if the new search engine will be able to understand from the beginning, from the first access aspects familiar to us, or if Tiscali has created beautiful background of beautiful Italian cities?

Although it is easier to think of the second case for several reasons (Italian search engine, culture, beauty ...) I must say that I could easily believe also to the first case.

In any case I will try it soon

Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

It's called "Facebook Card" and is a normal prepaid branded credit card, through which users can make purchases, for now, in some stores (Jamba Juice, Olive Garden, Sephora and Target).

It can be reloaded with money that you can spend even in other stores other than the one initially chosen.

The card can contain different balances for different stores at the same time. The gift card will be able to contain, for example, 100 dollars to spend from Sephora, 50 from Target and 80 from Olive Garden.

For now the service is active only in USA.

The record labels knowing how to manipulate key numbers to their advantage.

Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

From few days circulating the rumor that some of the major music labels have unclear procedures for increasing the number of views of their videos and that is why Youtube has punished those channels, eliminating views and even music videos.

The real story behind this news is that to monetize videos of their channels, the record labels, are entrusting to VEVO which best handles revenue obtained through advertising and through the viewcount.

Tell your stories with photos, videos and rich text on Google Earth.
Massimiliano Cammuso's insight:

Tour Builder - Put your story on the map.

Google has launched the beta of TOUR BUILDER a mix of his various experiment such as City Tours.

This time it seems that they are focusing on storytelling, infact you can easly add on a placemark videos, photo and other content and then their payoff is "Put your story on the map".

In difference and unfortunately, with Tour Building I was unable to create a walking path, then the tour that I designed was not so precise.

Have you already tried? Do you have any feedback on this new product of Google?

Automatic Captions on Videos Now Available in Six More Languages Including German, Italian, French and Russian | Social Web Innovation | Scoop.it

Robin Good: YouTube has just made available today the automatic captioning feature to six more European languages: German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch.

By utilizing this feature, which can be activated on any video by clicking a simple icon on the bottom of the video player, YouTube will automatically transcribe and display the spoken content of any video in one of the languages supported.

From the official announcement: "As automatic captions will have some errors, creators also have several tools to improve the quality of their captions. Automatic captions can be a starting point, where creators can then download them for editing, or edit them in-line on YouTube. Creators can also upload plain-text transcripts in these languages, and the same technology will generate automatically-synchronized captions."
