The Exploding #SocialTV Ecosystem: A Fall Update | Advertising Age | Social TV is everywhere | Scoop.it

"Earlier this year, Ad Age worked with our editorial partner Trendrr, the social-media monitoring firm, to produce a 1.0 version, and then a 1.1 update, of what we called "The Exploding Social-TV Ecosystem." We asked for reader feedback both times, and now we've expanded and updated the chart again with more than a dozen changes."

Infographic: 50% of TV isn’t watched on TV

Infographic: 50% of TV isn’t watched on TV | Social TV is everywhere | Scoop.it

"TV has come a long way in the past 80 years: and the rate of evolution has accelerated so quickly since the 1990s, that even the term “watching TV” has become almost irrelevant: 284 million people, or nearly 50% of US viewers, don’t watch TV on the television, but on the internet, via timeshifting, or on their mobile phones.

The infographic’s other Nielsen & emarketer.com-sourced insights include:

- 60% of people who multitask whilst watching TV do so on social media

- 41% of consumers own an HD and/or 3D TV, and 46% intend to purchase one

- $800m was spent on social games like Farmville in 2012."

Second Screen Visionaries: 5 Ways Mobile Is Changing TV-Watching

Second Screen Visionaries: 5 Ways Mobile Is Changing TV-Watching | Social TV is everywhere | Scoop.it

If you own a tablet or smartphone, and you are watching television, chances are you vacillate between two screens. That has the TV industry pretty excited these days...

...the TV industry is on board from producers all the way to the cable and satellite industries.  “It’s not a matter of if anymore, it’s a matter of how quickly,” says Braxton Jarrett, CEO of Clearleap, which provides web-based content management systems cable and Internet Protocol Television providers.  Jarrett says he has watched the television industry change drastically over the past 10 years, but never so quickly as right now. Second screen is right in the middle of that change.
