Great overview from the Census.gov website that outlines the difference between official poverty measure and the supplemental measure that comes out this week.  Interesting to have students compare them and determine - is the supplemental necessary?  What does it tell that the official measure doesn't?  Are there different circumstances when one would be used over the other?

See How Humans Have Reshaped the Globe With This Interactive Atlas

See How Humans Have Reshaped the Globe With This Interactive Atlas | Social Studies Education | Scoop.it

"

Earth is changing rapidly, and an increasing number of scientists say that humans have become the dominant force driving these changes. While the term has no formal definition, many agree that we are now living in an age shaped by human activity: the Anthropocene.

Evidence for the Anthropocene ranges from worldwide population booms to the expansive transformation of the landscape. But solutions are cropping up at the local level that could help create a more resilient global community."

If Scotland goes would Brittany be far behind?

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gouvernement-de-Bretagne/666501143370862?ref=hl

Mr. MacCollum's curator insight, September 26, 10:35 AM

How fine can the map of nationalism be redrawn? According to this map with great detail in Europe. It should be pointed out that some of these have very little public support. Support in Wales for independence is apparently at 3%. Also, it should be pointed out that one of the major reasons for the support for independence in many of these European regions is because of the presence of the supranational organization, the European Union. Take away the EU and its likely a lot of support would also fade away.
