Birkbeck Careers & Employability's curator insight, December 3, 10:36 AM

We’re an aging population. With that irrefutable fact come a number of other facts which we ought to start considering. The most commonly publicised impact of this is the burden upon the economy with respect to pensions and the NHS but there is a more interesting side effect which is a less popular topic. The social care sector is going against the grain of others and experiencing huge growth year on year which means abundant reliable job opportunities. It might not have occurred to you as a sector you might consider but if you do a little research you’ll fast discover that it is incredibly diverse. What possibly puts people off this booming industry is possibly preconceptions around what it entails coupled with some very high profile negative press over the past few years. This article helps explode a few of the myths and may just open your eyes to a whole new route to explore. Have you ever considered working in social care? Perhaps you've had some experience of the opportunities it can offer?
