Dunkin' Donuts official site for press releases, photos, video, audio, pr contact information, presskits and more.
Interesting DD follows Starbucks and one ups them with an app capable of "virtual payment". Not clear how this improves on Starbucks since, as I understand it, Starbucks is a virtual bank account capable of scan payment too. D&D CEO was on Squawk claiming the D&D app provides "first ever" virtual payment status. Here is what the app does:
• Purchase, manage, and reload a Dunkin’ Donuts Card
• Pay right from the app using a virtual Dunkin’ Donuts Card
• Send an mGift
• Locate the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts
• Find nutritional information
• Link to Dunkin’ Donuts’ social media communities
Everything I read says we are moving toward a seamless mobile web (i.e. no apps), but other data shows apps create stronger brand connection. The strongest apps treat the most loyal customer to some convenience.
**** EPIC FAIL ****
So see D&D CEO on Squawkbox this morning and go to their website to find the app. NOPE, hope page is about taking pictures. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You knew your CEO was going on Squawkbox and you don't have your APP LARGE and IN CHARGE on your home page your webmaster should be shot.
Dunkin' is growing, a rare high in the restaurant space, and it isn't hard to see why. They are the low cost alternative to Starbucks and innovating at a solid pace. Now if they could just get the calories out of their Donuts :).M
