Create RSS Feeds for Any User or Search Query on Google+: Feed+

Create RSS Feeds for Any User or Search Query on Google+: Feed+ | Social on the GO!!! | Scoop.it

Robin Good: If you are looking for a way to create RSS feeds from Google profile listings and Google+ searches, here is a working solution: Feed+ for Google Chrome.

Feed+ supports two different types of feeds:

a) Public user feeds: this turns all public messages of a selected user on Google Plus and turns it into an RSS feed. To create the feed, you either need to enter the profile ID which you find on the public profile page on Google+, or the full profile url.

b) Search results: this creates an RSS feed from a selected search term. It combines all public posts that include the search phrase.

Go get it here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/eaiadkmgpppkonfodnepmoknpaphnlij?utm_source=labnol.org

(Alternative tool: Google Plus Feed)

Official Google Blog: Search, plus Your World

Official Google Blog: Search, plus Your World | Social on the GO!!! | Scoop.it

I know a lot of people who have been reluctant to get involved with Google Plus. I’ve heard all sorts of reasons from “I don’t have time to do that as well as Facebook and Twitter,” to “Hrmph. I don’t even like it.” But if you were not convinced already about how important Google Plus data is likely to be for SEO in coming months, then this announcement by Google might change your mind.

Google Search has always been about finding the best results for you. Sometimes that means results from the public web, but sometimes it means your personal content or things shared with you by people you care about. These wonderful people and this rich personal content is currently missing from your search experience. Search is still limited to a universe of webpages created publicly, mostly by people you’ve never met. Today, we’re changing that by bringing your world, rich with people and information, into search.

Google+ Adds Sharing Bookmarklet To Ease Content Curation

Google+ Adds Sharing Bookmarklet To Ease Content Curation | Social on the GO!!! | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Thanks to Louis Gray who has helped me discover that Google has released a Share Bookmarklet which can be used to capture and post any kind of web content on your Google+ stream.

The Google+ Share Bookmarklet captures instantly title, description and images present on any web page while allowing you to select which image to use (or to drop it altogether) and providing a "comment" box. The title and original description cannot be edited.

The bookmarklet is free to use.

Get it here: https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/share/#sharelink-bookmarklet ;

Are Brands Wielding More Influence In Social Media Than We Thought?

Are Brands Wielding More Influence In Social Media Than We Thought? | Social on the GO!!! | Scoop.it

I selected this piece by Steve Olenski  for Forbes because it's good for B2C marketers to see the results of their social media campaigns.

This article is specifically aimed at B2C marketers where their consumers want instant gratification - promotions, giveaways, etc. Having said that, part of the purchasing cycle can include content in some cases depending on what you're selling and who your audience is.

Here are findings of a survey recently conducted by Market Force - a worldwide leader in customer intelligence solutions.

12,000 consumers in the US and UK were asked how they engaged with varying industries via social media: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google+

Here's what caught my attention:

**81% of US respondents indicated posts from their friends directly influenced their purchase decision

**80% of respondents “tried new things based on friends’ suggestions.”

**78% of respondents said the posts by companies they follow on social media impact their purchases.

**consumers are not all that interested in content but rather want something i.e. a promotion, giveaway, etc. when it comes to social media and their favorite brands.

Are Brands finally "getting it" when it comes to social media?

**They are getting more and more cognizant of the fact that what they post, share and so on can and will impact what the end user does – in this case, make a purchase decision.

**out of the 12,000 who participated 75% were women. This is incredibly significant given the fact that women account for 85% of all consumer purchases

Screen-Sharing Comes To Google+ Hangouts

Screen-Sharing Comes To Google+ Hangouts | Social on the GO!!! | Scoop.it

If you were waiting for Google to release a screen-sharing feature inside the Hangout real-time collaboration platform, that time has come.

In the next 48 hours Google will be rolling out to all Google+ users the ability to screen-share during any hangout session.

From Christopher Johnson G+ post: "When we launched Hangouts with Extras last September, we wanted to test new features and get feedback from users.

We’ve learned a lot over the past few months, and today we’re rolling out a new Hangouts look and feel that incorporates some of the “extras,” and better reflects Google’s overall design ( http://goo.gl/gG1NA ).

Highlights include:

- Screensharing: share what’s on your computer screen with everyone in the hangout. This is the first of many extras we’re graduating to Hangouts proper.

- Bigger video: we’ve put more emphasis on the live video itself by optimizing white space and other screen elements."
