in our school they tried them. The state paid them for the students, and if they paid something extra they had the possibility to keep them. But the experiment didn´t work that good. They didn´t try them again.

I wonder why Gabriel. So many kids have some sort of smart device at home it would seem that it work well depending on the course. Spelling is great. I'm speaking of elementary kids.

I don´t know what the reason was, but they often had some technical problem and instead of helping during the lesson they just caused problems. But the best thing about the tablets at school is the leighter backpack.

Meet Apple’s next CEO: Marissa Mayer

Meet Apple’s next CEO: Marissa Mayer | Social Networking With Facebook | Scoop.it

They say that politics is made up of strange bedfellows. So is the technology industry where Apple plays a leading role.

Apple competes against Samsung which sells chips and screens to Apple. The company’s newfound friend is Yahoo!, whose high powered search engine is run by Microsoft. If that’s not strange, then digest this. Apple’s next CEO is running a company that competes with Google and Microsoft.

iPads: From Pedagogical Crutch to Education Innovation

iPads: From Pedagogical Crutch to Education Innovation | Social Networking With Facebook | Scoop.it

For students who struggle with output, the option now exists to record ideas directly "onto a page." Similarly, teachers can leave audio feedback for students who benefit from hearing input multiple times. With the built-in camera, students can quickly snap pictures of class notes on a board, or record a quick video of teacher instruction. Leveraging just these few features has the potential to personalize learning and differentiate instruction where it might otherwise be impossible.

We have a long way to go to understand best practices for iPads, to move it from a play thing to integrated into creative pedagogy. However, "The Longest Journey begins with the First Step" and that is getting into the hands or teachers and learners.

imaginary library's curator insight, July 13, 2013 11:19 AM

The most important thing to do is to start with the wife of using the iPad if you have a sound pedagogical reason for using the iPad then you'll be a will to come up with uses that are appropriate.
