Why Your Business Needs A Social Media Presence - Two infographics - WordPress Hosting SEO Cloud

Why Your Business Needs A Social Media Presence - Two infographics - WordPress Hosting SEO Cloud | Social Networker | Scoop.it

Why Your Business Needs A Business Social Media Presence. Online consumers are more likely to buy things from brands they know or have followed through social media for some time.

An infographic published by Mr. Youth, a word of mouth marketing firm, polled 4500 adults to uncover the impact of social media on purchases. They discovered that social media not only influences brand reputation and PR, but often can lead directly to a sale.

Over 90% of respondents either received or made recommendations to friends and families on Facebook. 65% of these social recommendations directly led to a purchase. On top of that, 80% of those who received a response to a social media post by a brand made a purchase as a result of that interaction.

With numbers as striking you’d think businesses would be quick to comprehend. Yet according to the study, brands only respond to half of their social media posts, divided almost equally between Facebook and Twitter. The full report will be available in two weeks....

I love all these shiny numbers, and the infographics are great to prove your point regarding the importance of SM presence - but be cautious when you see stuff like this? Who conducted the research? How many respondents were there, etc...

Pallab Kakoti's curator insight, March 14, 2014 8:19 AM

#SocialMedia marketing is the lifeline for brands looking to target the online audience for anything from product promos, launch campaigns & many more parallels by leveraging objective, reach & impact. The key is in the analysis to determine the campaign ROI and keeping these dynamics in mind, a business website is the digital connection that businesses must incorporate to nullify reservations about a product purchase by referring to online reviews, product demos, customer experiences and so on.

Work of Mouth marketing is still one of the most influential catalyst that incites intent to check out a new product or brand based on references. A business website is the connection required to establish  a working relationship between the buyer & the seller. By integrating #social sharing icons & buttons, the process to recommend services to friends & family becomes much easier and simpler to complete. This irrevocably creates the influence of digital marketing & social media marketing for brands with instant real time reach & interaction with buyers & random online visitors across the fabric of the web.

How to Drive More Facebook Traffic to Your Website in 5 Easy Steps |

How to Drive More Facebook Traffic to Your Website in 5 Easy Steps | | Social Networker | Scoop.it
Find out how adding a share button and optimizing your Facebook Page and posts will generate more Facebook traffic to your website.
John Thomas's insight:

Excerpt from the article published by Social Media Examiner:
"Getting Facebook fans to your website is even more critical with Facebook’s recent announcement of decreased organic reach for pages.
Use these five steps to help you get more traffic Facebook to your website.

#1: Make Sure You Have a Steady Stream of Shareable Content on Your Website
These days, the name of the game is content marketing and you had better figure out how your business can participate.
Posting something new and helpful once a week or even once a month can benefit your website traffic.
Here are some ideas that can help you brainstorm how you can add new content to your website:
- Post a weekly tip about your niche;
- Post a weekly news bite with a photo;
- Curate a list of top 10 helpful articles;
- Interview someone in your office or in your industry.

#2: Make it Easy to Share Your Content to Facebook on Your Website
Once you have fresh content, you need to make it shareable. Your first step is to add a social share plugin and/or Facebook Share buttons.
I like using the Digg Digg plugin because it has all of the buttons I want to display and it floats along the side of the post as the reader scrolls through the article.
Also consider asking for a Facebook share if you feel you have a particularly helpful blog post.

#3: Optimize Your Facebook Posts
here are basically three different ways you can post a link to your website:
- The traditional way to post a link is just to cut and paste the link into the status section and allow the link to pull in the photo and metadata.
- Another way to post a link is to post a photo and then add the link into the status update with a little blurb about the link.
- One technique that has been popular in the past to get greater reach is to post your link in the status section and then “X-out” the link data that is pulled in to change the post to “text only,” even though it has a link in it.

#4: Optimize Other Places on Facebook to Add Links to Your Website
To drive more traffic to your website, make sure you have links in other parts of your Facebook page that people may be visiting.
- Use your About page
- Add links to your milestones
- Add links in your photo descriptions
- Use custom tabs with links to your website
- Optimize your personal profile

#5: Advertise
With Facebook’s recent announcements about decreased organic reach, advertising is going to be even more critical for marketers.
To drive traffic to your website, you can either create an ad from scratch with a link to your website, or boost content that you’ve already posted. When you boost content, remember to post something that doesn’t have a photo that has more than 20% text in it or it won’t get approved by Facebook..."

Each step and tips are analyzed with more information. Read full original article here:

Web Curation And New Professions: The Content Curator

Web Curation And New Professions: The Content Curator | Social Networker | Scoop.it

Excerpted from article on Mashable:
"Today, however, curation encompasses a whole new catalog of professions, brands and tools — and most revolve around the web.

A curator ingests, analyzes and contextualizes web content and information of a particular nature onto a platform or into a format we can understand. In other words, a curator is like that person at the beach with the metal detector, surfacing items and relics of perceived value. Only, a web curator shares those gems of content with their online audiences.

Some believe "curator" to be a reappropriated, throwaway term, one that simply elevates marginally focused web users.

Some media sites choose to curate articles already published and reported by other sites. For instance, Boing Boing and The Awl feed links that reference news reported by other sites around the web, tailoring content that will resonate with their readership.

More and more people are taking the reins into their own hands. Consumer curators are flocking to sites like The Fancy to browse products and silo them into categories. Other curation tools aren't as consumer-driven but nonetheless help users organize and structure web content that matters to them.

As much as the term gets criticized, curation requires patience, resourcefulness and a keen editing eye. It means becoming fluent in one particular dialect of the web, versus trying to speak its entire language. It's the reason journalists have beats, and the reason you chose one major in college, instead of seven.
Perhaps the best part? Curation is a never-ending job, and it never gets boring..."

Here are some highlights:
- We’re Marketing in the Age of Infobesity
With the average consumer attention span now between 2.8-8 seconds, curating snackable pieces of content into a visual story has emerged as a powerful strategy.
As shared through powerful case studies in the book from B2B, B2C companies both large and small, visual storytelling is helping marketers stand above the noise, grow a vibrant and engaged community and drive action.

- Relevancy Has a Deadline
We are at the beginning of a new era in marketing that aligns perfectly with visual storytelling. With the wealth of social data available and real-time listening tools, companies are evolving their strategies to be relevant in the moment with the goal of connecting consumers with the right message at the right time.

- The Consumer Reigns Supreme and Their Attention is the New Commodity
The best storytellers know and play to their audience, whether it’s a dramatic pause, a well-inserted joke, or crafting a perfect tweetable soundbite. Companies need to take the same approach with their social media channels. Visual Storytelling is far more than an attention seeking tactic, it’s a powerful strategy for showcasing the human side of your company..."

Under 8 second attention spans for consumers!  Of course, drowning in a sea of competing claims & noise.  So what do you think it is in B2B with key decision makers?

Whatever the number (still searching for credible data) your ability to be tighter and more succinct in getting early attention is vital.

I say early because once you've established initial trust you can engage together over problems and solutions for hours !

Visual content has always reigned supreme. However, with shorter attention spans and a deluge of content, it's getting more and more difficult to be seen.

That doesn't mean that you cannot do it. For example, a great way to achieve success is to hit your audience with a bang. Short videos can help tremendously.

This article is great because it presents some well-chosen case studies. My favorite one is trend #1. I watch BBC News' Instafaxes on Instagram every day and love how succinct and yet thorough the team can be in 15 seconds.

"VideoGenie has launched a new product that it calls StoryBox, which aggregates all kinds of content about a brand. The company says the testimonials can include tweets, YouTube videos, Instagram photos, and more, all presented in what Nassiri (VideoGenie's CEO) called “a rich, visual environment” on the brand’s site, and with the option for visitors to add their own stories directly from the site.

Naturally, brands can curate the content, so that a tweet with the wrong message doesn’t end up in the StoryBox. At the same time, Nassiri said the product offers analytics showing which content is getting the most engagement and (when relevant) driving the most sales. StoryBox can automatically prioritize the best-performing content and display it prominently on the site..."
