5 Pinterest Tips To Boost Website Traffic

5 Pinterest Tips To Boost Website Traffic | Social Networker | Scoop.it
Pinterest marketing is an incredible strategy for generating traffic to your website and blog.

With over 150 million registered users, this highly visual platform is bustling with consumers that are seeking to engage with your company - it’s a perfect platform to share your brand’s story, highlight products, connect with a new audience, and increase awareness.

If you’re looking for better ideas to leverage Pinterest in your social media marketing strategy, and get more eyeballs to your website, here are five quick yet effective ways to achieving this goal.

1. Create A Board For Your Blog Content

Simply creating a Pinterest board solely for your blog posts is a great move to driving fresh visitors to your content. Your blog board will make it easy for your audience to find, read, and follow regularly. This tactic can also influence your blog posts' SEO ranking in some instances.

Choose keywords that your audience is actively searching for when considering your board’s name - this increases the chances of it showing up in Pinterest search results. Also, provide a good description that shares further insight to your content. Aim for a couple of sentences and naturally sprinkle your target keyword/s throughout.

Finally, remember to link your blog post to each of your Pins to send traffic to your blog.

2. Use Long Visuals To Stand Out

Because Pinterest is all images, it’s easy for users to pass by and overlook your content. As such, it's important that your images stand out and capture attention.

Using long visuals is one way to separate your brand from the herd.

In fact, the most successful size for Pinterest images and graphics are the longer ones (typically 735 by 1102px). For this reason, infographics do amazingly well on Pinterest. You can easily add more infographics into your social media and overall visual strategy by following these tips and going to sites like Visme to simply create your own.

3. Host A Contest

Social contests can be a highly effective way to gain exposure, grow your leads, and build more “buzz” around your business. It gets your followers increasingly engaged with your content, driving more traffic to your boards and website.

When holding a content on Pinterest, be sure to adhere to their guidelines.

One way to boost traffic to your site includes creating a contest board and asking your audience to submit their favorite blog posts directly from your website (ask them to grab the URL and share it on Pinterest) and then have the participants write a comment about why they liked that post. You could name the person with the best thoughts in the comments as the winner.

Select prizes that are appealing to your audience to get them more engaged. Don’t forget to share the contest with your e-mail list and on other social properties, like Facebook and Instagram.

4. Opt For Popular Keywords In Lieu Of Hashtags

On Pinterest, keywords work better than adding a host of hashtags in your pins. In fact, Pinterest will demote your pins if you have too many hashtags and recommends against using them.

Instead, use keywords in your pin and board descriptions so they'll show up in people’s Pinterest search results.

A good way to discover what’s trending on Pinterest to drive traffic is to check out the “Popular” section that reveals the hot topics for the day. Let this serve as a guide as to the types of pins you should be sharing.

5. Get Involved In Pinterest Contributor Boards

A sure-fire way to gaining a lot of traction to your site is when you share your pins to a Pinterest contributor board.

Known as Pinterest’s group boards, people collaborate and post relevant pins for all to see. The tangible benefits of leveraging contributor boards can be significant, including more repins, increased exposure, and new fans of your brand. It’s also a great platform to connect with other social influences, gain ideas, and discover which topics are creating momentum in your niche.

It is, however, important to always read the rules of each board to avoid violating them and being banned from the group.

Final Takeaways

In each of your posts, be sure your pins link to a URL - whether it’s your website, blog, or landing page. The goal here is to create traffic to your site so don’t forget to check and ensure your pins are being directed to your intended site page.

Finally, giving a clear call-to-action is vital to moving your viewers to the next step. Tell them specifically what to do (click on the link or image) to increase results from your social media marketing efforts.

Social Media Best Practices for Infographics

Social Media Best Practices for Infographics | Social Networker | Scoop.it

Sharing your infographic that’s hosted on your website/blog and engaging the social sharing potential is key to maximizing the work you put in to creating your infographics.

Each social network has different image display requirements.

For example, tall infographics do not present well on Facebook. Facebook outlines horizontal images and a ratio of 1200 w x 627 h, meaning you may need to create some sharing images to drive social viewers to the main infographic.

The team at Lemonly put together a great infographic covering keys for social sharing on:

It Is Really Awkward And Sweet When 20 Complete Strangers Kiss On Camera

It Is Really Awkward And Sweet When 20 Complete Strangers Kiss On Camera | Social Networker | Scoop.it
John Thomas's insight:
Something beautiful happens when total strangers are asked to kiss. In the short film First Kiss, director Tatia Pilieva asks 20 daring individuals, who have never laid eyes on each other, to smooch before the camera. It's part of the new marketing campaign for clothing company Wren Studio. The participants, mostly friends of Pilieva and Wren CEO Melissa Coker, are dressed in clothes from the 2014 fall collection. The video delighted many millions with its awkward charm, seeing strangers paired off and working up the courage to kiss for the first time. "They were chosen based on how they looked aesthetically together beforehand," says Coker. "No one knew who they would be paired with until they showed up at the studio. The only caveat was that we had to ensure they had never met before." First Kiss is a clever social experiment in the awkwardness of intimacy, but it also evokes that long-forgotten teenage excitement of treading undiscovered territory. There are lots of awkward giggles, but perhaps most astonishing, is how easily a kiss creates a visceral bond between two people who barely know each other's names.

70 Online Tools & Services You Should At Least Know Exist - BloggerJet

70 Online Tools & Services You Should At Least Know Exist - BloggerJet | Social Networker | Scoop.it
Have you heard of “compulsive hoarding“? This is when your apartment is full of garbage, because you’re convinced you may need every single piece of it someday.

Now here’s the thing. I bet many of you guys are suffering from “compulsive online hoarding” (a term made up by myself) – this is when you bookmark more stuff than you actually can read/check.
Where am I going with this? Give me a few more sentences to explain.
The Things You Bookmark
Let’s talk about the things you bookmark. I think all of them fall into three main categories:

“To Read Later” Bookmarks – you see a cool article (maybe even this one), but now is not the perfect timing to read it. So you save it to come back to it later.
“Hotkey Stuff” Bookmarks – there is a number of websites and online services that you use daily. It’s handy to bookmark them so that you could open them with just one click when needed.
“I-May-Need-That-Someday” Bookmarks – those are the pages/services/tools that are of no use for you right now, but you can clearly see they are highly valuable and there’s a chance you may desperately need them in future. Now that’s the “online hoarding” I’m referring to.

The reason why I find “I-May-Need-That-Someday” bookmarks fascinating is because they actually WORK!
It happened to me quite a few times when I had to solve some problem and I thought: “Wait, I think I’ve seen a handy tool that can do it for me.”
Think of it as loading your brain with “there’s a tool for that” triggers and once something activates this trigger you don’t have to remember the name of the tool or its URL, you just have to look for it in your bookmarks.
That’s where the “You Should At Least Know Exist” part of my headline comes from.
So today I want to load your brain with 70 “there’s a tool for that” triggers and a single place to come back to recall them (this article of course).
the load will go smoothly, I promise ;)
I’ve tried to pick mostly uncommon tools, but then decided to throw in some famous tools as well for chances are some people may not know about them.
Ready?

Competitor Research Tools
MixRank ( http://mixrank.com/ ) – this is a nice service for researching ads of your competitors. These guys track thousands of advertisements and even give estimates on how they perform. In case you’re planning to advertise your business, you would probably be interested to know what’s going on in your niche.
WhatRunsWhere ( http://www.whatrunswhere.com/ ) – I guess it’s pretty similar to Mixrank. Don’t really know which of them is actually better.
SpyFu ( http://www.spyfu.com/ ) – another competitor research tool. But this time it checks for the most profitable keywords of your competitors.
Semrush ( http://www.semrush.com/ ) – tons of data to analyse and act upon.
Analytics Tools
Wistia ( http://wistia.com/ ) – absolutely amazing video analytics platform. If you’re creating videos for your website, there’s absolutely no point of using YouTube to host them. With Wistia you’ll get tons of stats on how your videos perform.
Mixpanel ( https://mixpanel.com ) – events-based analytics platform. Google Analytics lets you track events as well, but Mixpanel is much more convenient in working with such data.
Woopra ( https://www.woopra.com/ ) – another analytics platform. This time based on customer behaviour. I guess it’s useful in case you have some kind of a product and you need to know how exactly people use it.
KissMertics ( https://www.kissmetrics.com/ ) – an awesome analytics platform with tons of customization options. If you’re a fan of Lean Analytics you should try this out.
Clicky ( http://clicky.com/ ) – everyone is freaking tired of Google Analytics lately. Clicky is one of the best alternatives I know.
Analytics URL Builder ( http://gaconfig.com/google-analytics-url-builder/ ) – have issues with building the right URLs for your campaigns? Try this little tool.
Social Media Tools
SnapBird ( http://snapbird.org/ ) – awesome search that surprisingly has lots of benefits over default Twitter search.
Triberr ( http://triberr.com/ ) – bloggers gather in tribes and commit to tweeting articles from each other. This tool automates all the process.
HootSuite ( https://hootsuite.com ) – lets you create a very sleek dashbord to track all your social media profiles in one place. I use it for Twitter and it’s super handy!
Tweriod ( http://www.tweriod.com/ ) – this tool will analyze your twitter accou…
