9 tips for being seen and heard through the noise of Facebook

9 tips for being seen and heard through the noise of Facebook | Social Mind | Scoop.it
Facebook is constantly iterating so it can be tough to stay on top of trends. That’s why resources like Social Fresh are essential to anyone in a social marketing role.

1. Decide which content is best -- Sometimes a photo will do and others its all about the written word.

2. Tag your content -- When you post ANYTHING on Facebook that mentions a person, place or thing with a Facebook page, tag them.

3. Schedule, when appropriate -- The lifespan of a Facebook post is near 23 hours (compared to Twitter which is less than hour). So, maximize the amount of eyeballs that will see your content.

4. Collaborate with your team -- Two virtual heads are better than one, so collaborate to produce the most engaging content possible.

5. Sometimes you have no idea what will go “viral”.

6. Get your team on board to share that link -- This isn’t permission to create your own personal Spamalot, but when multiple people share a link it creates a related news feed, thus increasing your chances to be seen.

7. Promote your post.

8. Remember the two things people want most.

There are really only two reasons most people “like” brand pages:

#1 They are already a fan of in real life and want to show their affiliation;

#2 To get deals and discounts.

9. Plan a realtime, live event -- One of the great ways to engage your audience is to create content that has a longer life in your stream than a standard post.

This article shows the effectiveness of Social Media. In the last few years social media has exploded into the business scene. It all really started with Facebook and now it almost seems like businesses cannot survive without it! But how effective is it? In IMC, one of the most important aspects of marketing is the evaluation part at the end where you determine whether your campaign was successful. This is an evaluation of social media on businesses. In this article it clearly shows that businesses tie their success to social media and most are beginning to look beyond sales goal to identify the value of social marketing efforts.Social media also improves businesses appearance in search engines. It is also founded that most businesses did not have social media 3 years ago but started about 2 years ago so we can see what a quick growth this is. However the most important thing before using social media is to identify the businesses objectives since every business is different. In IMC we learn that objectives provide a benchmark against which the success or failure of the promotional campaign can be measured. By identifying objectives, the business will be able to use social media smartly.

It was great to see all the facts and figures relating to the effetiveness of marketing through social media. Its pretty evident that social media is now a huge element in promoting companies especially on popular sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. It really is the future as more and more companies are planning to increase their social media efforts as they can see how successful it can be.

Social network has become so powerful over the recent years and it gives opportunities for brands to communicate with their consumers or customers and market and promote their products. I wonder how long it would last as a platform and tool for marketing, promotions and communications.

Social Media Manager vs. Online Community Manager: Same or Different?

Social Media Manager vs. Online Community Manager: Same or Different? | Social Mind | Scoop.it

One recent morning I saw a post in one of my LinkedIN groups asking "what is the difference between a social media manager and an online community manager?" Easy, I thought, and offered a quick response on my mobile ... "Social media managers bring the guests (clients, prospects) to the table and community managers welcome them in!"

Ahh, but wait. This may require more words than I can manage on that little screen.

Ways Social Media Impacts SEO [For Local Business]

Social Media has become a critical piece of the overall SEO puzzle. Shares, likes, follows, and +1′s are all known to positively impact overall ranking for a website.

1. Geotagged Content: Check-Ins and Media #Check Ins are important indicators of your physical location

# Both Foursquare and Facebook offer the ability to check in from the business. Similar to how Google uses Web citations of your physical address for verifying location on Google Places and for local organic ranking, check ins have become a key part of their algorithm.

# Geotagged media is also key to verifying location - Most smartphones automatically geotag photos when they are taken. The vast majority of users either don’t know how to turn this feature off or simply don’t care. When they upload images to Flickr or videos to YouTube, it includes metadata about the time, date, and location of when the media was created.

2. Google+ Adds/Shares and +1s

Make no bones about it—Google+ is here to stay. Google+ activity and +1′s, as a whole, have been shown to be positively correlated to improved rankings on Google. Well, it has the same impact on local SEO.

3. Authority Reviewers On Social Sites

Sites like Yelp and Places are great for earning reviews about your business. It is, as usual, most important to get more reviews from authoritative or influential individuals. It is also important that those individuals provide high ratings on whatever review scale the sites use.

4. Twitter Followers/Mentions and Facebook Shares/Likes

Google combines your ability to influence your social network as a whole with the above to decide which sites are most important to rank in any particular locale.

Social Business Can Bring Measurable Value

Social Business Can Bring Measurable Value | Social Mind | Scoop.it
Social business technologies and initiatives are becoming more important to business and must continue to show business value.

Organizations today are starting to realize measurable business value from their social business initiatives. However, most firms have yet to measure the return on investment of their social business investments, according to a recent survey by Mzinga, Teradata Aster, and The Center for Complexity in Business at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.

According to the study, organizations today are primarily using social technologies for the following:

64% for marketing initiatives 47% for customer support 39% for employee collaboration 27% for sales

The data points suggest that social business technologies and initiatives are becoming more important to business in general and it’s only a matter of time that they be considered normal business practices.

Forty-nine percent of those surveyed for the Infographic said, “Yes, I’ve attained measurable business value through the use of social technologies. But I haven’t used it to its full potential yet.”

The Art Of Seducing Google With Great Content

The Art Of Seducing Google With Great Content | Social Mind | Scoop.it

In this comprehensive article Mustafa, outlines various methods to create compelling content to gain targeted traffic that converts.

Here is the Table Of Contents that breaks down his recommendations:

Table of Contents

1 Content: The Currency to Rank 2 Creating Remarkable Content that Works 2.1 Have a Passion for Giving 2.2 Become a Problem Solver 2.3 Share Your Results 3 Leveraging Third Party Sources 3.1 Embrace Content Curation 3.2 Use Content Syndication 3.3 Get Expert Insight 4 Attracting Quality Links 4.1 Create Actionable List Posts 4.2 Publish a Manifesto 4.3 Put Best Content First 5 Building Real Authority 5.1 Find Your Awesomeness 5.2 Be a True Guru 5.3 Connect to Influencers

I have focused on "Content Curation" as this category is dear to most:

3.1 Embrace Content Curation

The information age has brought in a lot of clutter. And the junk on the Internet is only contributing to it.

People online are tired of wading through useless information. They don’t want to waste time anymore. What they want is knowledge they can use.

No wonder “content curation” (the process of discovering, organizing and sharing information) has gained such traction.

Proper curation helps you give your readers useful content in a structured and systematic manner. In other words, it takes away the ‘clutter’.

Man has always craved organization. Because organization gives clarity. And clarity leads to action.

By embracing curation, you’ll be able to create resourceful content. Build a stronger foundation for your website. And of course, impress your readers with your organizational skills.

However, quality content curation isn’t about collecting a bunch of related links and putting them in one place. It’s not even about copy-pasting parts of other articles from various sites or blogs.

It’s about curating the most relevant content and adding your own valuable insight to it.

If your curated content is the meat (no offence to all you vegetarians) then your opinions or ideas form the bread that goes around it. Which makes your content tasty and appealing to your readers.
