Finally, an environmental infographic that isn't purely facts about energy and C02 emissions. This graphic throws a little comedy into the mix.

These slides indicate which states have lost the most productive farmland to sprawl and development but also which states have protected their farming acreage from being paved over for the past few years. Unfortunately, all states have had significant losses of the land that grows our food. What does that mean for the country? Delete the scoop?

Use of the term 'native advertising' has been picking up quite a bit of steam over the past several months ... but do you fully understand what it means? I'll be honest. I wasn't quite sure myself until about a month ago when HubSpot blogger Steve Hall approached me with an idea for a post about how inbound marketing supports native advertising. "Native what?" I asked? Turns out, I knew exactly what native advertising was -- I just didn't know that's what people were calling it. Well then it occurred to me that there were probably quite a few other marketers out there who were in the same boat as me. So when I recently came across the following infographic from the folks at digital advertising firm Solve Media, I figured it was worth a share. A little hazy about what on earth native advertising is? Read through the [above] infographic for a little enlightenment. I bet quite a few of you will end up thinking something along the lines of, "Ohhhh yeahhh ... " Delete the scoop?

Social nets work on the same dopamine receptors as slot machines. Addictive? You Think? LOL, we will figure a way to balance them out when startup entrepreneurs create a new generation of tools sure to wrest control back from THEM to US. Until then realize that jolt you keep feeling isn't real as much as it is PLANNED and MODELED :).

The opening lines are about traditional versus collaborative leaders. I think there has always been collaborative leadership. Great leaders through history surrounded themselves not with sycophants but with those who came with questions. Community emerged, trust revealed, and greatness shone through. We need to believe we are not reinventing the wheel. It exists and needs to be dusted off.

Ivon makes a good point. Is this not true however for most 'new' business and leaderships ideas. Even with (internet) technology as major disruptor in many industries, the fundamentals of value creation (management/leadership and innovation) have not changed. At the root of all value creation (which is the purpose of business) lies collaboration. The more unique the players in the collaboration game, the more value can be created, provided the game is played according to some key rules of engagement. Yes, collaboration as a powerful concept is not new. Facilitating productive collaboration is a whole different story. Perhaps that is where the challenges and opportunities for new leadership lie.

I haven't read this article but I knew right away, when I saw the title, that it was a valuable subject. I think that if more business people knew who much curation helps their 'don't have time' problem, they'd really be enthusiastic about it.
There's a tendancy, I believe, among business owners to think that people who read their blog, or website (or any other content) expect it to be Pulitzer Prize quality. I don't think that's true at all. Nor do customers expect a LOT of content. They just want to know what the business owner thinks and (in many cases) what they're 'up to'.
Curation makes it so easy for business owners to give them that info.
