Renowned architect Frank Gehry has joined forces with Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation to design a home for New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, the area most devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Make It Right’s core mission is to construct eco-friendly and LEED Certified Platinum residences for communities in need and Gehry’s residence is the first in Louisiana and only one of 22 Gehry homes in the United States.

The sustainable features in this 1,780 square foot duplex home include solar modules on the roof, cement board siding set to last for 50 years, ECOBLU framing wood, Benjamin Moore’s Natura and Aura paints with zero VOCs, carpets that can be again recycled into new carpet at the end of its lifetime, countertops made of 75 percent recycled raw materials, an energy efficient tankless waterheater, and floors constructed from post-industrial recycled content and which uses about 50 percent less newly harvested wood than conventional alternatives...
