Sport and social media are obvious partners. Sport provides ‘live’ excitement and social media lets you share the moment with your friends. It’s a social marriage made in sporting Heaven. A recent infographic from Eventility sets out exactly who the sporting winners and losers are in social media – and it’s not always who you might think. Of course, the obvious winners are there. Christiano Ronaldo recently became the first sportsman to pass 50m Facebook fans and we all remember Usain Bolt’s victory in the Olympic 200m final which resulted in 80,000 tweets-per-minute. But if you’re an American Football fan you might wonder why there are no NFL teams in the top 16 ‘most followed’ lists on Twitter or Facebook. Baseball fans will be similarly disappointed; they don’t feature anywhere. That eight of the top ten teams on Facebook are football (soccer) teams, exposes the limited popularity of heavily US-dominated sports. When you see this list it’s pretty obvious why US companies are buying English football teams. The international factor also significantly affects personal popularity. All of the most popular individual players are football, basketball or tennis stars. Most of us in the social media industry know the importance of thinking before tweeting only too well, but apparently this knowledge is lost on sports players. Many have found themselves in trouble as a result of misjudged, foolish or offensive tweets:
Looking more locally, it’s encouraging to see that smaller sports teams and clubs are using social media to promote their activities. In fact, 76% of sports event organisers use social media to promote their events, with Facebook being by far the most popular social channel. Of course, Eventility also highlights how sports groups are using social platforms to organise online - but it's interesting to note that only 50% of smaller sports clubs have adopted social media. Given that a Nielson study for Sport England suggested that over a third of people who participate in sport would do more if they could use a web tool to search for sport locally, these clubs are clearly missing a trick. Perhaps the key takeaway from this infographic is how effective events themselves - including sporting events - are at generating both buzz and followers, and how important it is to seize the moment. Ask yourself how many of the 130,000 Twitter followers that Greg Rutherford attracted by actively Tweeting during the Olympics had heard of him before the games? And, were it not for Twitter, how many would know where his next competition is? No wonder the long-jumper makes it into the Social Media Winners category. Delete the scoop?

Use of the term 'native advertising' has been picking up quite a bit of steam over the past several months ... but do you fully understand what it means? I'll be honest. I wasn't quite sure myself until about a month ago when HubSpot blogger Steve Hall approached me with an idea for a post about how inbound marketing supports native advertising. "Native what?" I asked? Turns out, I knew exactly what native advertising was -- I just didn't know that's what people were calling it. Well then it occurred to me that there were probably quite a few other marketers out there who were in the same boat as me. So when I recently came across the following infographic from the folks at digital advertising firm Solve Media, I figured it was worth a share. A little hazy about what on earth native advertising is? Read through the [above] infographic for a little enlightenment. I bet quite a few of you will end up thinking something along the lines of, "Ohhhh yeahhh ... " Delete the scoop?

because of these days internet immprovement, most of companies advertise there brand and products through internet like facebook and twitter. in article there are more facebook users than a twitter user in US. however, more people in twitter are saying only positive reactions to certain brand.
Kevin Chai's comment,
March 15, 3:17 AM
The article seems to be focused on a comparison between the effectiveness of marketing on Facebook or Twitter, with very little information regarding other sources of social media. Facebook is a decidedly more effective marketing tool than Twitter is, with their brand much more likely to spread there than on Twitter. However, Facebook is also a little bit more objective, due to how lenient females are on Twitter. While it does give a little bit of detail regarding how effective the two social media platforms are, much of these statements are something that we already knew and so this article does not contribute much to the understanding of branding.

Marketing is changing before our eyes. As technology provides marketers with more reach, more control, and more information, marketing departments are becoming increasingly technical and data-driven. As a result, marketing operations are absorbing more responsibilities and control from their creative counterparts. However, the rise of the calculating marketing scientists should be viewed as an opportunity for more traditional marketing artists. In a recent article, Stan Woods of Velocity Partners uses the scientist and artist monikers to distinguish between the creative-driven and data-driven marketers of the modern marketing department. Although a slight oversimplification, these distinctions hold a lot of truth about the current divide that exists within many marketing teams. While these two differently-minded marketers take very different approaches to their duties, the marketing departments that will truly excel in this new age of marketing are those that recognize the value in both approaches. Companies need the data-driven approach of marketing scientists to track, measure, and optimize performance like never before, but they also need marketing artists to deliver innovative, creative campaigns that cut through the crowded marketplace. We have put together the infographic above to help highlight the tremendous assets marketing artists and marketing scientists can bring to the table, and the advantage of finding a balance between the two. Understanding how to use the "creative commons" is about to be every Internet marketer's job. I'm lousy at attribution and that has to stop. I don't like it when sites copy my work without attribution so only fair to hold myself to the same standard or stop being mad when someone copies my work wholesale (unlikely). Attribution is the right Thank You and kudos for someone's hard work.

It’s becoming harder and harder for web designers to create a universal design that looks good on any device. The different resolutions make the job tedious since you have to make everything as dynamic as possible. Designing something for just one device is a concept that is equivalent to failure. There are simply too many devices out there that people connect with to get on the Internet. If you want to cater to the majority of people browsing the web, you will have to think in several resolutions at once. Some designers have mastered this skill to the max. However, every time a new device comes out with a larger resolution, a touch up is necessary. Maybe that’s why an ultimate resolution guide had to be created, even if it is just for the Apple devices for the time being. This ultimate resolution guide comes from Anibal Maiz Caceres and was actually a video presentation that was converted into an infographic. The ultimate resolution guide video is as inspiring as the infographic itself. They are both called Apple Devices Resolutions and should definitely be considered the ultimate resolution guide for Appledevices. No longer do you have to look around the web to compile all of Apple’s device resolutions in order to make your design as Apple friendly as possible. Just either print out this ultimate resolution guide or have the link to this article handy, and you will always have a way to look it up. Ever since we started looking into picture quality and pixels on any mobile device, the resolutions have become a jungle to navigate. Which ones are the most used, and what is to come? These questions are unfortunately not touched on in this guide, but it still gives you the answers to what resolutions Apple has on all of their devices. Whether you are coding an app for these devices or trying to make a flexible web design for all of them, here is your one ultimate resolution guide to use when you are unsure about what resolution to use. It is guides like these that make the job for any coder or web designer a whole lot easier. Delete the scoop?

When was the last time you changed your business card design? Most of the tools we use to grow our businesses have gone high tech. Whether it’s a phone sitting on our desks with a long cord, a fax machine in the corner or even a huge bulky file cabinet stuffed with records, it’s all been upgraded to more effective and efficient high tech ways of doing things. The one thing that hasn’t really changed throughout the years is the business card. Sure, we’ve written about high tech business cards, but there always seems to be one catch with those business card designs, and that is that both people have to be users of the same app or same system in order for it to work. There have been some really incredible business card designs that weren’t cards at all. We’ve seen them where both people touch smartphones and they both instantly follow each other on all their social networks and fancy stuff like that, but again, it requires that both people are already users of whatever app that requires. When you first meet someone, and you are trying to make a strong first impression, the last thing you want to say is something awkward like, “In order for me to give you my business card, I need you to install an app.” So, as a result, most of us still carry around traditional business cards. They are fast, easy, and they still get the job done. If you are going to keep using a traditional business card, you might as well do whatever you can to make it stand out and be as appealing as possible. Richard wrote about how to do this in an article called The Ultimate Guide To Business Card Design. Today I’d like to share some more tips for you that incorporate psychology into yourbusiness card design. This infographic called How To Design Your Business Card With Psychology In Mind by Uprinting touches on the psychology that goes into your business card design. In other words, how will something as simple as a font choice or spacing play into how you are perceived to your potential client? This will hopefully give you some new ideas, and it might even inspire you to update your own business card design. Delete the scoop?
