Twitter Content Strategy Guide

Twitter Content Strategy Guide | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Twitter has quickly become a favorite part of content marketing strategies employed by most businesses. The 140 character limit means that it doesn’t take much work, users have little inhibition about following quality profiles and it’s already optimized for mobile. Curating a quality Twitter feed lends itself to an answer for so many marketing questions that it would be hard to list them all here.

Still yet, lots of users have no idea how to make 140 characters count. What we end up with is Twitter feeds consisting primarily of links and quotes. Quotes are an obvious place to start when you want concise snippets of text that convey wisdom and evoke strong emotions. In fact, the most successful Twitter users are almost always inspirational, funny or educational in nature. However, followers don’t want to follow a copy of someone that’s already in their feed, and as an online influencer you don’t want to be pigeonholed.

HOW TO : Use Twitter to Get Out of Debt

HOW TO : Use Twitter to Get Out of Debt | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Twitter can sometimes seem like a huge waste of time. Especially when people start tweeting about the most trivial of daily routines, one would sometimes wish for just a little more quality control. And yet, the rising social media service isn't just about celebrities and companies preaching banalities to the converted. In many ways, Twitter works like a powerful contemporary search engine, which can help you with a variety of questions and problems.

What Kind of Problems?

Well, over the past few years, a lot of people have got into difficulty financially for a variety of reasons: The global economic down turn has caused huge levels of unemployment, a massive-scale withdrawal of credit and a staggering rise in the cost of living. As a consequence, people who would ordinarily repay their debts promptly have been unable to do so.

Twitter Background Design How-To and Best Practices

Twitter Background Design How-To and Best Practices | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Check out this overview of best practices to stand out from the crowd with your Twitter theme and follow the tutorial to create your own profile from scratch.

With Twitter quickly becoming the hottest site to be seen on, everyone wants to stand out from the crowd. There has already been a range of quality designs showcased on various sites, which has shown an emergence of trends such as the ‘sidebar’. Let’s take a look at some of the best practices around Twitter background design and get to work creating our own.

We all recognise the default blue Twitter background right? It’s not a bad design, it’s clean and trendy but it doesn’t stand out when the majority of Twitter users also have the same look. Furthermore, if you’re keen to achieve more followers, removing this background would probably help out by showing that you’re an active user, or if you’re tweeting on behalf of your company or service, it helps prove that you’re not a spammer.

Generally speaking, there are three main approaches when it comes to creating your Twitter background (other than a boring solid colour!):

That could be very interesting to know how do that. [note mg]

Have you seen those pre-written “tweet this” links and buttons that some websites use to make sharing a tweet much faster, and give additional control to the website that created it? I’m going to show you how to make a Pre-Formatted Re-Tweet Link or Button. When a user clicks on it they will be taken to their Twitter account with your message already filled in. All that is left for them to do is send the tweet! It’s useful in several situations, and isn’t the same as the stock Twitter Re-Tweet button.

Twitter is becoming known as the place to get news before it even becomes news. Getting news before everyone else has made it a premiere place to look for content, which by default has made it a premiere place to share content.

8 Creative Ways to Use Embeddable Tweets

8 Creative Ways to Use Embeddable Tweets | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

What if your Twitter conversations could expand to include more people from your online community?

Now you can thanks to embedded tweets, a new feature from Twitter.

Sharing Tweets Outside of Twitter

Embedded tweets allow you to take a tweet or a conversation and post it on your website or in a blog post. You can use this feature to share your Twitter conversation with a larger audience.

But more than that, the embedded tweets have interactive features. From an embedded tweet, a visitor to your website or a blog post reader can:

  • Reply to the tweet and join the conversation.
  • Share the conversation with their Twitter community using retweet.
  • Mark the tweet as a favorite.
  • View the Twitter profile of the tweet author.

How To Integrate Facebook, Twitter And Google+ In WordPress

How To Integrate Facebook, Twitter And Google+ In WordPress | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Integrating social media services in your website design is vital if you want to make it easy for readers to share your content. While some users are happy with the social media buttons that come built into their design template, the majority of WordPress users install a plugin to automatically embed sharing links on their pages. Many of you will find that a plugin does exactly what you need; others not so much. Some are poorly coded, and most include services that you just don’t need. And while some great social media plugins are out there, they don’t integrate with every WordPress design.

If you aren’t comfortable editing your WordPress templates, a plugin is probably the best solution. If you are comfortable making a few edits to your theme, then consider manually integrating social media so that you have more control over what services appear on your website.

12 Keys to Success on Twitter

12 Keys to Success on Twitter | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Twitter was never designed to be a social network but it has become one.

In fact it was designed initially in 2006 to used by individuals as an SMS type service to communicate with a small group at the podcasting company Odeo.

When I first joined Twitter in 2008, I was underwhelmed and wondered as to its usefulness. Its early attraction to me was its novelty factor.

It has overcome this challenge and four years later it has built an impressive resume.

  • Over 140 million active users as of 2012
  • Generates over 340 million tweets daily
  • Handles over 1.6 billion search queries per day
  • Tenth most visited site on the internet

In the nearly six years since its founding over 600 million users have registered Twitter accounts.

9 Ways to Improve the Signal to Noise Ratio on Twitter - Brian Solis

9 Ways to Improve the Signal to Noise Ratio on Twitter - Brian Solis | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Yes it's a fact... we live in an overloaded information stream! Brian Solis gives us an interesting point of view about this matter. [note mg]

Even at 250 million Tweets per day in addition to the updates across Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and every other feed that we willfully subscribe to, information overload is in of itself a fallacy. But the feeling the overload of information is very real and a reflection of our inability to pull the levers necessary to decrease noise and improve signal. Doing so, requires some very blatant actions that don’t simply reduce the volume of the information we don’t care to see as often, it requires disconnecting from human beings. Whether we’re severing ties with individuals or those representing an organization we once supported, it’s emotional. It’s an action that carries an element of guilt knowing that at some point, our action will cause an incremental blow to the psyche of the individual we’re unfollowing.

I know…so what right?

Introduction

If you read Part One of this series, you recall I discussed targeting and third-party applications to save you time and help you market you business and product or service more effectively.

Goals For This Post (Part Two)

  • The beauty of Lists and how they can help you use Twitter more effectively
  • Discuss branding, content tweets, and promo tweets and why you need to understand the difference

LISTS

I mentioned lists briefly in Part One for the purpose of finding targets but they do so much more. Here are my top ten reasons you should be using lists:

1) The number one reason to use lists: each list allows you to add up to 500 people aka tweeps. You can have up to 20 lists (public or private though I recommend public). I suck at math but even I can figure out that’s 10K people!

There are also the little, effortless things that we forget to do that can add up overtime: adding hashtags at the end of our tweets.

For example: If I were tweeting “Engagement From Scratch” . . . and let’s just say I don’t have 50,000 followers but I want to spread the word about it.
