We are living in a new age of austerity. Environmentalism is no longer just a crunchy cause, but also a corporate mandate. Simple is good.
So why has product spam spun out of control? Perhaps HP (and others) didn't get the memo? Whatever the reason, one thing is now painfully clear: Product spam must stop.

As exhibit A, check out Hewlett Packard's new computers released yesterday. In fact, it's practically impossible not to check them out: HP has coughed up a number of machines at the same time, and they're filling the homepages of many a gadget site...

Spam is a huge problem on Twitter. Some days you can’t mention the word “iPad” or use a hashtag without getting flooded with unhelpful and obviously fake spam Tweets from robot-driven accounts. Many of those accounts are obviously spammers as well, with 0 followers to their names.

 

Well, rest assured that Twitter understands spam is a problem and is working on it. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo Tweeted this response to a complaint by Peter Kafka about spam on Twitter:

 

Yep, we’re working on it. We are trying to migrate from “reactive” to “realtime” to “predictive” on that front.

Spam has always been a big issue, even as far back as the 1970′s, the Monty Python team were writing and performing sketches about hating spam.

 

However, if that’s just FAR too silly for you and you really are fed up with spam, let’s examine what we’re up against!

 

As you may or may not know, I like to sent out my social media satire blog posts to my regular Twitter friends and they seem to like it. Every Monday morning for the last 22 weeks, I’ve forwarded them a little social media satire to brighten up their Monday.
