10 Reasons Your Business Still Doesn't Use Pinterest

10 Reasons Your Business Still Doesn't Use Pinterest | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Here's our admittedly tongue in cheek list of reasons your small businesses still might not be using Pinterest. Join in the fun.

Recent reports suggest Pinterest is well on its way to being one of the biggest social networks ever.

A study last month indicates that while Facebook still maintains its domination with 67 percent of American Internet users, Twitter, the second runner up with 16 percent of the same audience, may soon be overtaken by Pinterest, which now has about 15 percent.

Martin Gysler's insight:

If you run a business who can improve his visibility with pictures, maybe you should read this post.

Even if it's logical, it's also a reminder for all who don't use Piterest yet.

Pinterest locked in stalemate with image owners

Pinterest locked in stalemate with image owners | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

You're on Pinterest... like me... this post should interest you. [note mg]

Image-sharing site Pinterest has been in negotiations for months with photo service Getty. A breakthrough could dispel some of the copyright questions hanging over the hot startup — but one expert says not to hold your breath.

According to Bill Rosenblatt, an engineer and authority on digital rights issues, the two sides are likely in a logjam over how — or if — Pinterest should use Getty’s image detection software, PicScout. Getty acquired PicScout, which tracks images across the Internet, last year for $20 million.

64 Pinterest Marketing Tips and Tactics - Infographic

64 Pinterest Marketing Tips and Tactics - Infographic | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Pinterest over the last 6 months has become the social network with buzz and it provides a visual platform that offers an ecosystem to experiment and play with images as a means of marketing and engagement and even selling.

I walked into an electronics store the other day and happened to pass the television department.

The 70 inch televisions with high definition flat screens were displaying videos so compelling that for a minute or two I just stood there watching images so sharp and mesmerizing that I just stopped and watched.

The vibrant colors and high contrast were almost hypnotic.

It was only ten years ago and a flat screen TV half that size was $20,000.

Now everyone has at least a 42 inch plasma or LCD screen and that is in the smallest room in the house!

Why We're All Suddenly Obsessed With Pinterest

Why We're All Suddenly Obsessed With Pinterest | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

It's a good question! The fact is that blogs are filled with articles about Pinterest. For my part, I am absolutely convinced that this kind of social media will wreak havoc among users... and you? [note mg]

It's addictive, fun, visually appealing, and easy, so it's no wonder Pinterest, the popular visual bookmarking site, has hooked millions of users. That said, the site’s growth (below) was fairly flat from its launch in early 2010 until September 2011. But since then, it’s simply been going gangbusters, begging the question--why now? Here are three reasons why we think it’s become so attractive.

1. Pinterest rides (and defines) a new trend: social relevance.

Pinterest is successfully riding a new trend wave in the social space, moving mechanisms for content sharing beyond connections (friends) and towards relevance, effectively broadening the social horizon for us content addicts.

Pinterest is quietly generating revenue by modifying user submitted pins.

Pinterest is quietly generating revenue by modifying user submitted pins. | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Breaking news that Pinterest is changing user submitted pins to make money. Are they now one of the biggest affiliates on the Internet?... That's the question [note MG]

I swore I wasn’t going to write about Pinterest again for a while after finishing a six part series of blog posts, but major developments keeping coming and no major news organizations seems to be covering them.

If you post a pin to Pinterest, and it links to an ecommerce site that happens to have an affiliate program, Pinterest modifies the link to add their own affiliate tracking code. If someone clicks through the picture from Pinterest and makes a purchase, Pinterest gets paid. They don’t have any disclosure of this link modification on their site, and so far, while it has been written about, no major news outlet has picked up on the practice or its implications.

Pinterest doing this is big news in my opinion for two reasons:

Social Media Tools & Tech – 15 Tips to Not Lose Your Mind!

Social Media Tools & Tech – 15 Tips to Not Lose Your Mind! | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Sometimes it's really hard not to lose his mind. There is such an offer, which changes daily, it's sometimes difficult not to get lost. Maybe this article will give you some ideas to see more clearly! [note Martin Gysler]

I spent some time this evening cruising around Facebook, LinkedIn, Goolge+, Pinterest, and a few hundred other platforms. I had high hopes for finishing a couple blog posts but instead got lured in by the latest social news. You know how it is. Just as we get use to something it changes, a ticker is added, more of our activity gets shared, a new social network is born, mobile app launched and the list goes on.

As I wasted my night away in social slacker land with all my fellow slacker geeks I was amazed at how many people are simply losing their mind. I guess I am so close to all of it that I forget how many business leaders, entrepreneurs and consumers are still learning.

In the past year and a half we’ve seen a real shift in social media. A move is happening away from the strict confines of the 140 character update towards something more visual.

More than ever, we are sharing images and video with one another — in increasingly simpler ways. In a relatively short amount of time Pinterest and Instagram have both grown into their own juggernaut communities.

Both of these services offer great, new, visual ways to connect with your fans and potential customers, but do you really need to focus on both? In the battle of Instagram vs. Pinterest, which one is a better fit for your brand?

5 Insights on Facebook vs Pinterest in Driving Sales - Infographic | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Pinterest has been grabbing the headlines recently as its network approaches 20 million users per month.

In March compete.com reported that Pinterest had received 18 million unique visitors with AppData reporting that the visual social network had received a record 4.4 million daily active users on March 18.

There are reports that Pinterest’s growth is slowing but just like Twitter and Facebook reports of its demise maybe slightly premature.

The Power of “Low Friction” Photo Sharing

Pinterest’s value to marketers is that it provides an easy to use platform for “pinning” images, photos and videos to your Pinterest account while also posting and sharing to your networks to Facebook and Twitter in the same process.

Pinterest reduces the effort and friction to share images on the social web which crowd sources your marketing and the spreading of your brand images.

Just because Pinterest is a female-dominated network doesn't mean men don't fit in. In this post, learn how to leverage this network as a male user or male-focused brand.

Pinterest’s popularity has exploded in the past few months. Their traffic and user base has grown exponentially, bringing it to the attention of marketers around the world.

One of the most unique factors of Pinterest is the fact that its user demographic is made up mostly of women. This key factor has forced many male-oriented brands to rethink their marketing strategy if they want to leverage this social network.

5 Ways Writers Can Break Out of the Tired Old Social Media Box

5 Ways Writers Can Break Out of the Tired Old Social Media Box | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

The social media world is changing daily. In other words, we must be alert and aware of the new tools that could support us in our approach. This interesting article speaks about some "new" tools that can also help us to go towards to success. [note Martin Gysler]

It’s time to teach that old dog some new tricks.

That old dog I’m referring to is social media.

Sure, you’re already blogging, and on Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, and more. Great.

But I’m telling you — there’s more to social media than meets the eye. The final chapter on social media hasn’t been written.

When I kicked off my writing business in April, I decided to use social media my way.

I approached these overused networks as if I’d never heard of them. I made my own rules. I set different expectations. You could say I wrote my own chapter on social media marketing.
