25 Awesome Free Google Tools for Marketers

25 Awesome Free Google Tools for Marketers | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Whether you love Google or love to hate Google, you have to admit one thing. Google offers a lot of free tools to use with the convenience of being able to access them with one login.

Marketers in particular should take advantage of these tools to get more out of their search engine and social media marketing experience. The following are some of the top Google tools marketers should embrace from A to (almost) Z!

1. Google AdSense

Ever created a niche website for linking purposes, affiliate marketing, content development, or another reason that never panned out? If the website gets even a moderate amount of traffic, and you have no other use for it for the time being, why not earn a little income off of it using Google AdSense? By simply placing some ad code in the header, content, and sidebar of the website, you can earn some passive income. The amount you earn will depend on the topic of the website and the amount of visitors it receives.

10 Productive Tasks You Should Be Doing On Google+ Right Now

10 Productive Tasks You Should Be Doing On Google+ Right Now | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Google+ had a hot start, but has since cooled down. For a lot of people, that means ignoring Google+. I want to warn you that is a bad idea.

Although the lights are on and it seems like nobody is home, trust me: there are people there. And they are the very people who can have a huge impact on your blog and business.

Why Google+ isn’t going anywhere

Google+ is designed to draw you away from both Twitter and Facebook. And in time, it could do this.

Yes, Facebook has over 800 million users. People like to state that number and then say “Facebook isn’t going anywhere.” Fair enough. But people do migrate. It happened to AOL. And it could happen to Facebook. In fact, former Facebook president Sean Parker says influencers are already moving from FB to Twitter and Google+.

Hilarious Strategies for Leading an Angry Twitter Mob Against Klout

Hilarious Strategies for Leading an Angry Twitter Mob Against Klout | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Leadership may be defined in part as a process of influence.

Strangely, as I was searching for definitions of leadership I saw this list of leadership synonyms on Dictionary.com: authoritativeness, influence, command, effectiveness; sway, clout (emphasis mine).

However, many may know of another spelling: Klout with a “K”

Klout defines itself as the arbiter of social media influence. In their words, they provide The Standard for Influence. When the company recently unleashed their new algorithm, many people in social media saw their scores radically drop. For those schooled on this “credibility” framework, it was disorienting or irritating...

20 Ways to Make More Money from Your Blog

20 Ways to Make More Money from Your Blog | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

A few weeks ago, on the ProBlogger Community Boards, I started a new forum topic titled, “Help Me Monetize 1,000 Visitors Per Day.”

My natural health blog had experienced some rapid traffic growth, and had grown from 80 visitors per day to over 1,000 visitors per day using these seven strategies.

Yet my income was pitiful.

My only monetization strategy was linking to relevant Amazon products, and I was generating just over $100 per month. I worked out that if I carried on like this, simply promoting Amazon products, I’d need to be clocking 50,000 visitors per dayto make a comfortable, full-time income with this blog...

10 Social Media Secrets from the Social Scientist

10 Social Media Secrets from the Social Scientist | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Value is the currency on the Web, and the more value you create, the more people will flock to you. It has been said give till it hurts and you will receive it back in spades.

There are some secrets regarding social media that I’d like to share.

I’m a bit of a hard-core social media user and I’ve been doing web and content development for many years now. Because I have been online for a very long time (pre-graphical Web), I am pretty attuned to what constitutes authentic and cooperative behavior online. There are things that set apart the altruistic contributor (check out this cool thing!), for instance, from the self-serving ones (buy my stuff!).

If you do nothing else this year, consider shifting your social media strategy to encompass increasingly pro-social guidelines. The more you give, the more the community will give back, but it needs to be done with a sensitive hand.

How To Change From A Social Media User Into A Social Media Leader

How To Change From A Social Media User Into A Social Media Leader | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

I created and then abandoned a Twitter account many months ago. I had virtually zero reputation outside of Twitter when I started. And it wasn’t an account that became popular by following everyone back or using other tricks. On the abandoned account, all tweets were removed except one, which said:

Do not follow this account, follow this other account instead.

However, nearly 100,000 people followed the old account in the coming months (though many figured out their error eventually, and switched to the new one). That’s the power of a leader’s reputation in social media. Reputation can bring people to you even after you have left...

Facebook Fans: Are They Worth the Excitement?

Facebook Fans: Are They Worth the Excitement? | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Sometimes when I think of Facebook, I can’t help but think addiction. Coffee and cigarettes I can quit, but for some reason Facebook has a hold on me, and after doing some research, I have found that I am not the only one. According to a Nielsen study, in 2010 the amount of time the average person spends on Facebook was about 14 minutes per day, or seven hours per month.

Even more astonishing, if you combine the amount of time spent on Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Wikipedia, and Amazon, Facebook still comes out on top. In other words, having a Facebook page for your small business is a great way to advertise.

Even better, individuals (known as Facebook fans) can “like” or add your company as a “friend”; therefore staying notified of any special deals or messages you send out. But after spending 14 minutes per day on Facebook, you probably already knew that.
