Social Media Tools That Support Google+: Solutions for Small Business

Social Media Tools That Support Google+: Solutions for Small Business | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn can be found in the majority of social media management apps. It is with Google+ that things get a little bit more complicated: very few social media tools support it due to some technical challenges.

However, most social media managers would prefer a solution that would allow them posting to all social networks in one place, Google+ including.

In this post, you’ll find reference to all tools that are to date integrated with Google+. We’ll bring small business editions to a special focus and review social tools that (1) support Google+ and (2) the ones you can use for free or under $10 a month.

Martin Gysler's insight:

I don't know you, I prefer a solution that would allow posting to all social networks in one place, Google+ including.

I wonder why this is not the case in all social media tools.

5 Ways Writers Can Break Out of the Tired Old Social Media Box | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

The social media world is changing daily. In other words, we must be alert and aware of the new tools that could support us in our approach. This interesting article speaks about some "new" tools that can also help us to go towards to success. [note Martin Gysler]

It’s time to teach that old dog some new tricks.

That old dog I’m referring to is social media.

Sure, you’re already blogging, and on Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, and more. Great.

But I’m telling you — there’s more to social media than meets the eye. The final chapter on social media hasn’t been written.

When I kicked off my writing business in April, I decided to use social media my way.

I approached these overused networks as if I’d never heard of them. I made my own rules. I set different expectations. You could say I wrote my own chapter on social media marketing.

How To Integrate Facebook, Twitter And Google+ In WordPress

How To Integrate Facebook, Twitter And Google+ In WordPress | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Integrating social media services in your website design is vital if you want to make it easy for readers to share your content. While some users are happy with the social media buttons that come built into their design template, the majority of WordPress users install a plugin to automatically embed sharing links on their pages. Many of you will find that a plugin does exactly what you need; others not so much. Some are poorly coded, and most include services that you just don’t need. And while some great social media plugins are out there, they don’t integrate with every WordPress design.

If you aren’t comfortable editing your WordPress templates, a plugin is probably the best solution. If you are comfortable making a few edits to your theme, then consider manually integrating social media so that you have more control over what services appear on your website.

25 Google+ tips and tricks

25 Google+ tips and tricks | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Google+ unveiled itself to the public amidst a chorus of praise and adulation from techies all over the globe. Unfortunately, it also earned a good amount of scorn from individuals who were not ready to grasp the unique philosophy Google+ was promoting. That philosophy is one of openness.

Unlike Facebook, Google+ is designed to connect strangers, and inspire collaboration and contribution. It has proven to be an amazing platform for promoting ideas, brands and people.

Since its early rollout, Google+ has forced competitors to begin evolving, inspiring platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to develop new ways of thinking about social media and the functionality they offer.

It’s just over 3 months since Google dropped the bombshell that it was launching their own social network and inevitably the attention immediately switched to Facebook to see what they would do in counter the launch. Facebook were initially quiet but they went in to their famous “Lockdown” phase and started rolling out a whole host of new features many of which were lightly “inspired” by Google +. If anything the launch by Google seems to have helped accelerate the development cycle at Facebook with the main beneficiaries being the end users who are getting an improved service. TabFusion’s new Facebook application for fan pages means users may not need to choose between sharing content on Facebook or Google Plus any longer.

TabFusion says it has developed the first application that enables page administrators to display a Google Plus feed as a tab within Facebook fan pages.

The app leverages some of the most popular features of Google Plus by supporting inline photos and links, with real-time updates.

And in the future, TabFusion hopes to display everything that’s important on Google Plus, such as circles, comments, photos and other items.

Perhaps the most important feature of the Google Plus app from TabFusion is that it’s available for free only for a limited time.

Official Google Blog: Search, plus Your World

Official Google Blog: Search, plus Your World | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

I know a lot of people who have been reluctant to get involved with Google Plus. I’ve heard all sorts of reasons from “I don’t have time to do that as well as Facebook and Twitter,” to “Hrmph. I don’t even like it.” But if you were not convinced already about how important Google Plus data is likely to be for SEO in coming months, then this announcement by Google might change your mind.

Google Search has always been about finding the best results for you. Sometimes that means results from the public web, but sometimes it means your personal content or things shared with you by people you care about. These wonderful people and this rich personal content is currently missing from your search experience. Search is still limited to a universe of webpages created publicly, mostly by people you’ve never met. Today, we’re changing that by bringing your world, rich with people and information, into search.

Is Google+ a Ghost Town? 5 Reasons That Will Change Your Mind

Is Google+ a Ghost Town? 5 Reasons That Will Change Your Mind | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Google+ is getting flack for low average time on site numbers, but what do these truly symbolize? And do they really matter?

So with Google+’s new redesign and several articles that have appeared highlighting how Google+ is “dying,” maybe we should reflect on what Google+ is doing right, with perhaps the pundits looking at it through the wrong lens?

What if Google+ never needed to be Facebook, but rather exist as something more?

So you’re on Google+, and you think it’s a ghost town because your friends aren’t on it?

Well, what if I told you none of that mattered?

What if I told you, you could see what you really wanted to see; interact with what/who you really wanted to interact with; and group those interests and engagements into categories and subjects?

Well here’s five reasons how Google+ can make you forget that your friends aren’t here, while still being amazingly useful, interesting and engaging. It’s more than a social network.

I spent some time this evening cruising around Facebook, LinkedIn, Goolge+, Pinterest, and a few hundred other platforms. I had high hopes for finishing a couple blog posts but instead got lured in by the latest social news. You know how it is. Just as we get use to something it changes, a ticker is added, more of our activity gets shared, a new social network is born, mobile app launched and the list goes on.

As I wasted my night away in social slacker land with all my fellow slacker geeks I was amazed at how many people are simply losing their mind. I guess I am so close to all of it that I forget how many business leaders, entrepreneurs and consumers are still learning.

10 Productive Tasks You Should Be Doing On Google+ Right Now | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Google+ had a hot start, but has since cooled down. For a lot of people, that means ignoring Google+. I want to warn you that is a bad idea.

Although the lights are on and it seems like nobody is home, trust me: there are people there. And they are the very people who can have a huge impact on your blog and business.

Why Google+ isn’t going anywhere

Google+ is designed to draw you away from both Twitter and Facebook. And in time, it could do this.

Yes, Facebook has over 800 million users. People like to state that number and then say “Facebook isn’t going anywhere.” Fair enough. But people do migrate. It happened to AOL. And it could happen to Facebook. In fact, former Facebook president Sean Parker says influencers are already moving from FB to Twitter and Google+.

Thankfully, the answer is “not entirely.” Google has provided a way for you to verify your page to Google. As a verified page, you should get preference in Google and Google+ search results, and you’ll also qualify for Direct Connect when it rolls out more broadly...

Using Google+ Ripples to Connect with Influencers

Personally I thought it was just another one of those features that was interesting but nothing I could really use. That was until this Whiteboard+ video which I filmed with Rand. Both Rand and I were blown away at the amount of data a Ripple gives you and what you can do with it.

What is a Ripple

The definition of a “ripple effect” is: a spreading effect or series of consequences caused by a single action or event. When it comes to Google+ a Ripple is an interactive diagram that shows how a Google+ post spreads as it’s shared by users. You can find the Ripple of any public post using the dropdown to the right of the post...

Why I am not paranoid about privacy on Facebook and Google

Why I am not paranoid about privacy on Facebook and Google | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

I have frequently been informed of my naiveté on this matter but I am going to say this anyway: I think the whole privacy scare regarding companies like Facebook and Google is overblown and way out of proportion. I, for one, don’t care how much these companies know about me and how they use all that data.

At its f8 conference last week, Facebook unveiled the new Timeline feature, which takes all the information you have ever entered on the social networking website and puts it on a redesigned profile that is chronologically arranged by year and goes back to your birth. More controversially, it announced additions to Open Graph which will encourage you to share a lot more data on Facebook through third-party applications.
