What you need to know about #EAv’s new dividend structure | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

To me it makes sense that he should be there over me (I know you probably disagree but it’s ok, he’s a cool dude). This suggests to me the changes are having the proper effect. Remember: We are all affected by these changes. Even if we don’t like them we are still on the same playing field and all under the same system. If everyones divs go down together has anything really “changed?”

What is Empire Avenue?

The currency in EAv is ‘Eaves’:...

Meaningful exchanges constantly take place all over the social Web on a variety of platforms, connecting people and enabling them to share, critique, and interact with content and with each other. The type of information we share reveals a lot about who we are, who we know, and what we know — people tend to talk about the things they care about/are most knowledgeable about with others who are interested in similar subjects. 12 Tools to Measure Social Influence (Maybe) | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Social media influence is a bit like oxygen – we "know" it's there and we know in some sense that it is essential for “life” if we’re in marketing, advertising or public relations, but can we capture it in a jar and observe it? No. Well, at least not entirely.

Building Community Around Empire Avenue

Building Community Around Empire Avenue | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
It's the best post I have read about how Building Community Around Empire Avenue!

Empire Avenue is a stock market where you can purchase shares in your favorite individual or corporate social media presences. I’m on the service with the ticker symbol IFROGGY.

My friend Damond Nollan has been riding the Empire Avenue wave. He’s a popular user and has dug in pretty deep. I asked him to write a guest post for me and he talked about how you can build community around Empire Avenue and further engage with the people you encounter on EA.

Empire Avenue (EA) is a relatively new social network built upon gamification. On the surface, the site is about buying and selling shares in people using eaves, EA’s virtual currency. However, if you look a little deeper, you may notice a lively community that actively engages both on and off site. Empire Avenue: I Built an Empire. Will You?

Empire Avenue, the social media exchange that allows you to buy and sell shares with just about anyone with a Twitter or Facebook account, almost entered the world under the name "Bond Street," but for the fact the URL was already reserved. How that early decision on metaphor influenced the unfolding of a site now populated with global brands and hundreds of social media's most aggressive oversharers is worth a little reflection.

One of the first blogs devoted to the site was "Empire Building," advancing the rhetorical framework that has driven site growth since public launch last summer. At its core, Empire Avenue is about buying and selling shares in social media entities, be they people, brands or blogs. But its layers of complexity have fueled furious on-site engagement by three types of people: social sharers, influencers and gamers. And each of these types is clearly empire building, through community, activism and networking, gaming, and a mix of these behaviors...
