Is the New Facebook Timeline a Failure in Design? | Jeffbullas's Blog | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Generally people don’t like change!

The majority of us like routine and familiarity. Mess with someone’s habitual routine and watch them start to sweat, stress and squirm.

They also say that a change is as good as a holiday but is all change good?

Facebook’s new timeline is now live on both the personal profiles and pages and it has taken the known and familiar and replaced it with a very new design.

Steve Jobs said in an interview with Wired magazine in 1997 “People think that design is how it looks, but it goes much deeper than that, it is actually how it works”

“As aesthetically orientated humans, we’re psychologically hardwired to trust beautiful people, and the same goes for websites. Our offline behaviour and inclinations translate to our online existence.”—Dr. Brent Coker...

Few excellent ideas to give a great design to your Facebook timeline. I'll inspire me, to change my profil in the next couple of days. [note mg]

Recently at the F8 conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced a massive redesign to our favorite* social media website. Honestly The new updates are understandable and from their point of view provide a better experience for the end user.

Facebook Timeline is a unique idea that has been getting some heat lately. Basically speaking it’s a story of your life that is visible to you as well as your friends. With privacy being a widely discussed issue on Facebook, Timeline completely diminishes that case.

How Your Blog’s Design and Usability Influences SEO | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Your design matters a lot in regards to search engine optimization - probably more than you know! Make it simple, usable, and pragmatic!

As we move forward through this series we’ve covered some pretty strategic stuff as it relates to keywords, meta elements, pagerank, nofollow, and a few other technical aspects. But what about design and usability? Do these things place a part of good search engine optimization?

The answer is a loud and definitive “Yes!” – and this is especially important with some of the more recent updates to some of the more significant search engines like Google. You see, in a recent update to their search algorithm (codenamed “Panda“) they shared how they have increased the significance in elements like design and usability for their SERPs.
