How to Find Out Which Online Marketing Strategy Drives the Best Traffic

How to Find Out Which Online Marketing Strategy Drives the Best Traffic | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Do you participate in so many different types of online marketing strategies that when your boss asks you which one is the most effective, you don’t know what to say? Sure it’s easy to spot the top referring traffic source in Google Analytics, but you won’t be able to say what overall online marketing method is really working as a whole unless you want to start adding up different referral sources with a calculator and then cross reference them with goals, demographics, and other data.

This is where Google Analytics Advanced Segments come into play. Using these, you can create different segments for different groups of referral traffic – traffic from social media, article marketing, link building, directories, local search, guest posts, and so on. You can then see everything including demographics, conversions, and top content for each group of referral traffic and compare them against each other to know which ones are the best.

I Like You, But Just Not in That Way Brian Solis

I Like You, But Just Not in That Way Brian Solis | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Businesses are using social media to earn Likes and Follows, engage with customers, and the more progressive brands, are extracting insights from social and interest graphs to improve and personalize experiences and products. The quest for a larger install base of social consumers is admirable and quite honestly, necessary in a new era of empowered consumerism. It is the intentions of businesses that I question as I believe that their vision and interpretation of acts of Liking and Following are clouded.

The importance of the 3F’s (friends, fans, and followers) does not lie in the initial conversion from consumer to connected consumer. Counting numbers as a metric here isn’t helpful or usefull. In fact, it’s misleading and potentially distracts any business from long-term success...

Amazing set of features launched by Facebook since Google + launch

Amazing set of features launched by Facebook since Google + launch | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

It’s just over 3 months since Google dropped the bombshell that it was launching their own social network and inevitably the attention immediately switched to Facebook to see what they would do in counter the launch. Facebook were initially quiet but they went in to their famous “Lockdown” phase and started rolling out a whole host of new features many of which were lightly “inspired” by Google +. If anything the launch by Google seems to have helped accelerate the development cycle at Facebook with the main beneficiaries being the end users who are getting an improved service. Whatever way you look at it and despite the fact that Facebook were working on some of this stuff before anyway you can’t but be impressed at the staggering response to the launch of Google + by Facebook…
