The social media world is changing daily. In other words, we must be alert and aware of the new tools that could support us in our approach. This interesting article speaks about some "new" tools that can also help us to go towards to success. [note Martin Gysler]

It’s time to teach that old dog some new tricks.

That old dog I’m referring to is social media.

Sure, you’re already blogging, and on Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, and more. Great.

But I’m telling you — there’s more to social media than meets the eye. The final chapter on social media hasn’t been written.

When I kicked off my writing business in April, I decided to use social media my way.

I approached these overused networks as if I’d never heard of them. I made my own rules. I set different expectations. You could say I wrote my own chapter on social media marketing.

YouTube Gets Free, Cloud-Based Video Editing Thanks To New WeVideo Integration | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
WeVideo, a newly launched cloud-based collaborative video editing platform, is today announcing integration with YouTube. Starting this afternoon, YouTube users will be able to access a basic version of WeVideo’s online service in order to edit their video clips by adding titles, effects, animation, music, narration and more.

The editing tool will be provided directly on YouTube itself at YouTube.com/create.

To be clear, WeVideo is not the only editing tool that Google’s online service provides, but it hopes to soon to be the most robust. YouTube’s own editor is fairly basic, and other tools like Magisto are more limited in scope. With WeVideo, the goal is to bring a more full-featured, professional-grade video-editing solution to the cloud that’s also easy enough for anyone to use...

125 Ways to Integrate Social Media to Zoom Your Business

125 Ways to Integrate Social Media to Zoom Your Business | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Random acts of marketing (RAMs) will melt the positive in your business checking account, return on investment and brand equity like an ice cube on a hot day on hot cement. RAMS are a leading cause for failure in business, marketing and of course social media.

Integration may seem like a lot of work up front. When I talk about integration with clients I often get that raised eyebrow look and know they want to say “what is she talking about, we don’t have time to think further than tomorrow… we’ll never get integrated… she just wants to complicate the project so she can charge us more!”...

Google optimization is based on the premise that the more people that like to your website, the more valuable it must be and the higher ranking it deserves in search results.

And almost two decades since it was devised, beneath the sophisticated mathematics, the hordes of MIT grads swallowed into the research and development department, and hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue lies a simple principle: Google optimization works. 10 Things You May Not Know About YouTube

10 Things You May Not Know About YouTube | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Social media verse is full of some best kept secrets. YouTube is one of them. Yet when I think about cultural shifts enabled by social media, YouTube is the place that comes most vibrantly to mind. It's big, wide and deep.

In my last post I mentioned that the social media ‘verse is full of some best kept secrets. YouTube is one of them.

This Time cover from a couple of years ago (with the shiny mirrored screen) was prescient, but not quite enough… I’d cross that ‘You’ out and say ‘Us’. Hasn’t it felt that way these last couple of years? How we’ve grown a global collective consciousness?

Despite this cover, YouTube is not usually the first site that comes to mind when thinking about social media. I guess we take it a bit for granted while we wax rhapsodic about Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and Quora. Yet when I think about cultural shifts enabled by social media, YouTube is the place that comes most vibrantly to mind. It’s big, wide and deep.

Mature. Eccentric. Probably not what you think it is.

YouTube has its Own Language

Sometimes it's really hard not to lose his mind. There is such an offer, which changes daily, it's sometimes difficult not to get lost. Maybe this article will give you some ideas to see more clearly! [note Martin Gysler]

I spent some time this evening cruising around Facebook, LinkedIn, Goolge+, Pinterest, and a few hundred other platforms. I had high hopes for finishing a couple blog posts but instead got lured in by the latest social news. You know how it is. Just as we get use to something it changes, a ticker is added, more of our activity gets shared, a new social network is born, mobile app launched and the list goes on.

As I wasted my night away in social slacker land with all my fellow slacker geeks I was amazed at how many people are simply losing their mind. I guess I am so close to all of it that I forget how many business leaders, entrepreneurs and consumers are still learning.

YouTube Annotation Tips To Increase Video Views | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

If you’re already using YouTube videos to promote your business online, adding annotations to your videos is one way to make your videos stand out from your competitors and engage your audience. Annotations are a unique feature built into YouTube that allows you to add compelling text and links to other videos, playlists, and channels right in your video, giving the viewer additional layers of information and interactivity. Although annotations are not currently indexed by YouTube or Google and therefore do not impact whether your videos will appear in the search results, they are a great way to increase viewership of your YouTube videos and drive engagement with your business across the Web.

Social Networking: Entrance Is Free. Influence Is Not. | The MKCREATIVE Blog | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
The voices questioning the impact of social media are legion, and we have shared some of those voices with you over the last eighteen months. Most of those voices that question the value of social media question not its presence or influence, but the way so many sectors of modern ‘connected’ society assume ‘social media presence’ equals profits or political change.

A counterweight to such unfounded optimism helps keep us all in check. But such arguments, again, challenge an exponential formula linking ‘free’ social media with economic growth or social change.

Video Drives Conversion, Sales and Traffic While Reducing Returns – So What Are You Waiting For?

Video Drives Conversion, Sales and Traffic While Reducing Returns – So What Are You Waiting For? | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
Deploying ecommerce video online is no longer only the domain of top retailers.

In fact, shrinking costs and rising benefits of video has spurred many smaller businesses into action, with 73 percent of online retailers using video on product pages this year, an impressive jump from 55 percent in 2010, according to eMarketer.

However, plunking a clunky, homemade video onto your website isn’t necessarily going to improve your ROI, but with a little effort you can clearly measure success with four basic metrics: conversion rate, shopping cart abandonment rate, site traffic, and view-through rate.

Measuring conversion rates.
Ice.com found that consumers who viewed videos on their site converted at a 400 percent increase over those who did not. Ice.com also credits video with decreasing returns by 25 percent, according to an internal study...
