Content Marketing Boot Camp: Everything You Wanted To Know In One Post

Content Marketing Boot Camp: Everything You Wanted To Know In One Post | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Wow, an amazing post about Content Marketing. From; "What Is Content Marketing" to "Content Strategy Best Practices By Successful Brands". All what you need to know to start or improve your know-how in this area. A must read post, of sure! [notre Martin Gysler]

An offline marketing expert recently asked me for a crash course in content marketing through social media. She’d built a powerful personal brand over the years and wanted to take her analog educational resources and research and leverage them online.

The answers to her question, “What is this content marketing business, and how do I get started?” are smattered across the web. So, I compiled a “boot camp” style reading list for her, things we’d written, curated, or analyzed, drawing from work by experts like Brian Clark and Dan Zarrella. And, in true content marketing fashion, I figured why not publish that list?

Even if you’re a seasoned veteran, sometimes it’s nice to review the basics. Revisiting content marketing boot camp was a great exercise for me; I hope it is for you, too.

Ten hut!

10 Key Facts, Stats and Findings about the State of Social Media in 2011 | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Social media has evolved rapidly and we have seen the emergence of social networks that 12 months ago did not exist.

Some surprises this year included the launch of Google+ (which acquired 25 million users in less than 30 days), Pinterest which grew at more than 512% and Tumblr (the microblogging platform) which is now approaching 50 million unique users a month

Mobile social networking and geo-location services such as Foursquare continue to make their impact felt and have not gone away despite the threat of Facebook “places”

Today 1.2 billion people worldwide access social networks and it is redefining the web...

Screw Overnight Success: How to Really Build Long-Term Growth Online

Screw Overnight Success: How to Really Build Long-Term Growth Online | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

“Actually, I’m an overnight success. But it took twenty years.” – Monty Hall

There’s no shortage of overnight success stories on the web. Google “make money online” and you’ll be flooded with sleazy ads promising thousands of dollars of income per day if you just buy their product. For those of you who may be new to the internet business game, it can be intimidating and even off-putting.

Despite what the ads will tell you, very few business people earn a comfortable living after a few days or weeks in business. A more reliable – and more profitable – way to approach your business is with a long-term plan. When you’re patient, you’ll be more likely to build a thriving audience that’s ready to support your work...

Make Money Locally—and Globally—Through Your Blog

Make Money Locally—and Globally—Through Your Blog | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Our blog is less than a year old.

We started Firepole Marketing less than a year ago, and we’ve done pretty well with it over that time. A lot of people know who we are, and what we do.

I’ve even been dubbed the Freddy Krueger of Blogging.

And while we’re not at the scale of a major site like Copyblogger, we still do pretty well, to the point that we make a decent amount of money online, and occasionally even help others to do the same.

We aren’t the only ones to have done that, and I remember that a year ago, when I saw others make the same sort of claim, I always wanted more information. I wanted to know how much money they were really making, and where that money was coming from...

The 12-Step Social Media Program for Traditional Marketers

The 12-Step Social Media Program for Traditional Marketers | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

When talking to marketers who haven't yet seen the "social media light," I forget that this stuff is still pretty new.

When I wrote about the need for a social network like Twitter - several years before Twitter was conceived - I never thought that my days would be filled teaching veteran marketers how to build social media service offerings.

Based on my daily interactions with marketing agencies, I believe we've finally reached the point where convincing companies that they need to be using social media to build awareness, audiences, traffic and leads is almost over...

The 10 Most Popular Facebook Marketing Presentations | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

Content marketing is one of the most powerful ways to engage your target audience.

Often the content that we have on our computers that should be shared with the world to promote your brand remains hidden and offline.

YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are well known social media and social networking channels that can help spread your content and ideas.

Slideshare is an often forgotten or undiscovered social media platform where you can upload your PowerPoint presentations and make them visible to the world wide web.

Product Spam Is Out Of Control And Must Be Stopped

Product Spam Is Out Of Control And Must Be Stopped | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

We are living in a new age of austerity. Environmentalism is no longer just a crunchy cause, but also a corporate mandate. Simple is good.
So why has product spam spun out of control? Perhaps HP (and others) didn't get the memo? Whatever the reason, one thing is now painfully clear: Product spam must stop.

Spam Attack!

As exhibit A, check out Hewlett Packard's new computers released yesterday. In fact, it's practically impossible not to check them out: HP has coughed up a number of machines at the same time, and they're filling the homepages of many a gadget site...

Want to Make Money Online? Then Stop Reading and Get Moving!

Want to Make Money Online? Then Stop Reading and Get Moving! | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post here at problogger.net about how Firepole Marketing makes money.

I explained that even though we’re less than a year old, we’ve already made over $20,000, and that over half of that came from offline sources.

We wanted to know how other bloggers make their money. Is it all online, or do they make their money offline as well?

In other words, we wanted to know if they were Semi-Local.

In October 2011, we surveyed 153 people; 107 who were already Semi-Local, and 46 who aspired to be. We asked a number of questions to find out what was really involved in becoming and being Semi-Local. Here are the highlights of what we learned.

Community Only Means Something If You Keep It Warm

Community Only Means Something If You Keep It Warm | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it

When Switch came out, I promoted the heck out of it, because I loved it. I got a nice little note from Chip and Dan Heath calling me the “mini Oprah.” A year or so later, I finally get the chance to meet Dan Heath, and of course, he remembers me because of this experience, and he kinda knows my name from around. At this moment, if I reached out with a reasonable request to Dan, he would probably give it some consideration because we only saw each other a few weeks ago. In a few months, that relationship will be a bit colder, simply because time has passed and it’s easier to lose that warmth between each other.

By contrast, I haven’t talked much with Keith Ferrazzi or Tom Peters lately. It would be a bit more work for me to feel like I could ask them for any kind of help. I’ve done some teleseminar stuff with Keith before, and I’ve met Tom once and been one of his “cool friends” before, but I would feel like we hadn’t really connected lately enough to do something without my warming that relationship up.

8 Chrome Extensions Every Online Marketer Should Use

8 Chrome Extensions Every Online Marketer Should Use | SOCIAL MEDIA, what we think about! | Scoop.it
I’m an efficiency nut. I change little things about my processes and tools just to shave a few seconds off of tasks I repeat over and over again each day. I even use a square monitor because I feel I lose too much time moving my mouse across a wide screen. All these little savings add up and there’s no better way to increase your work efficiency than with some juicy browser extensions.

Since Chrome is my browser of choice these days, I decided to write this post about Google’s browser. There are similar extensions for Firefox and maybe IE (who knows?) so if you see an extension you like, try searching for a similar extension for your browser. I purposely skipped over most of the SEO tools because those lists have been done over and over again. My goal here is to help all online marketers get more work done in less time...
