The technology is there, and so is the desire of workers.

The only thing limiting the shift to a more nimble, agile and productive workplace is the rigid policies of companies themselves.

How to Use Screenwriting Techniques for Content Marketing

How to Use Screenwriting Techniques for Content Marketing | Museums, innovation and emerging technologies | Scoop.it

In marketing circles, we tend to rely on things like flow charts, diagrams, and pyramids. But according to Hausmann, that’s no way to tell a story.

“You wouldn’t summarize a trip by saying, I’d like to show you a couple of the key message points and summarize those for you in a beautiful pyramid and diagram,” he says.

To close the time and efficiency gap between the typical (and boring) marketing strategy language and creative execution, bringing a screenwriters’ toolkit into the process can make a world of difference, according to Hausmann.

At #ThinkContent Summit 2017, he provided step-by-step instructions for “brand scripting,” which he defines as identifying a company’s core brand narrative and building the story structure that aligns all executional efforts.

Take a look at Hausmann’s script for content marketing success, illustrated through the brand Beats by Dre....

Insightful commentary on the connection between quality content and engagement. I know it SHOULD be common practice to take all of the bullet points in this post (click through!) into consideration whenever developing content. I'd be thrilled if I could get everyone on board for these two requirements:
* useful, trustworthy information
* good UX across browsers

How to Retarget the Middle of the Funnel in a Form-less World - Kissmetrics

How to Retarget the Middle of the Funnel in a Form-less World - Kissmetrics | Museums, innovation and emerging technologies | Scoop.it
The easiest way to segment traffic is based on specific page visits. You could also target specific page visits, too.

What’s that? “Your customer’s aren’t on / using Facebook?” Well you’re in luck. Twitter’s advertising platform supports the same specific URL-targeting. As does LinkedIn’s new and improved ‘Matched Audience.’ Now you can run retargeting ads across the three primary social networks for people in each stage of your funnel (based on pageviews and previous visits).

Now you’ve got interested leads being (automatically) followed up in multiple channels. The next step is to get on the phone with qualified ones. Enter calendar apps.

Sean McVey of Virtru changed their traditional contact form-based approach to Calendly in order to automatically schedule sales calls. And the results quickly took off. Conversion rates jumped to 50% and 61% of leads scheduled a call. Then once someone creates a Calendly appointment, you can send that data pretty much anywhere with a little help from Zapier.

Wow! We’ve become masters of anecdotes, and terrible at telling real stories | Museums, innovation and emerging technologies | Scoop.it
It’s a well-documented paradox of modern relationships: Our digital tools allow us to connect in ways that feel both intimate and distant. We can be reached at all times and across great distances, but the ties that bind us are superficial. Quick updates (even the occasional humblebrag) are better than radio silence when th

As promised, here's the second post I recently found about anecdotes versus storytelling.

I found this piece quite intriguing because it points to a possible decline in storytelling in favor of sharing quick anecdotes. What I like however are the tips for how to really share a story in conversation. Great stuff!

Anecdotes have their place, but never share an anecdote when a real story is called for (and that's way more often than you think!)

Forbes Insights-Alfresco Study Reveals 3 Levers For Digital Transformation

Forbes Insights-Alfresco Study Reveals 3 Levers For Digital Transformation | Museums, innovation and emerging technologies | Scoop.it

A new study by Forbes Insights and Alfresco explores what separates the winners from the losers in the digital economy.

The research concludes that there are three levers business and IT leaders can employ for successful digital transformation, which catalyze a rethinking of the way organizations embrace the power of business technology:

Design thinking—where a relentless focus upon optimizing user experience and customer experience guides all business technology decisions.Open thinking—in which innovation from both inside and outside the organization is encouraged to drive new initiatives.Platform thinking—where the desired outcome of systems and solution deployment is to build an ecosystem of partners and customers that exchange capabilities and data in a manner that creates added value.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

This survey confirms what others (McKinsey, Accenture, etc.) have proven before: the leaders of digital transformation leverage digital tools to rethink the way they do business instead of simply digitizing their existing one. To do so it takes amazing leaders able to innovate and risk by reviewing how they design their products and cooperate with others.

What is Self-Management? | #Innovation

What is Self-Management? | #Innovation | Museums, innovation and emerging technologies | Scoop.it

Self-Management is an alternative to the traditional, hierarchical method of organizing we see most often in modern organizations. There are a few key ideas that are central to the Self-Management philosophy, namely that:

People are generally happier when they have control over their own life (and work) It doesn't make a lot of sense to give the decision-making authority to the person that furthest (literally) away from the actual work being done.

When you give good people more responsibility, they tend to flourish

The traditional hierarchical model of organizations is not scalable—in fact, it's a recipe for a slow painful death

There's an undeniable link between freedom and economic prosperity in nations around the world—and, further, an undeniable link between lack of freedom and corruption at the national level.

The same is true of human organizations in general.
