Librarians Rally Behind Blogger Sued by Publisher Over Critical Comments - Technology - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Librarians Rally Behind Blogger Sued by Publisher Over Critical Comments - Technology - The Chronicle of Higher Education | Uses of Social Media | Scoop.it
A scholarly press's lawsuit will have a chilling effect on academic freedom, say supporters of the librarian.
Sandra Jamieson's insight:

Well, is this about the power of blogging or the paranoia of a publisher that has received much criticism in the past (and, I gather, sued about it before)? People do need to know about Mellon before providing manuscripts. And as has been said elsewhere (including in CHE- http://forums.chronicle.com/forums/index.php?topic=79735.0 http://forums.chronicle.com/forums/index.php?topic=79735.0), some people may want to publish with them for reasons they deem legitimate.

Is a blog the best place for a librarian to assess the quality of publishers? No. But should the blogger be sued for doing so. Hell no!

A conversation I am sure wil be continued . . .
