4 Ways to Prepare a Facebook Content Plan for 2013 | Social Media Today | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it
We all know that content be it branded or user-generated is what fuels social channels. Without comments, shares, and retweets, a great social platform is like a slick porsche with flat tires.

Content is now the asset of any business, it’s how you make people talk about your brand and how search engines will reflect those sentiments.

Millennials Love Snapchat Because It’s Not Facebook | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it
It's not an archive and It's not a family photo album, but Snapchat still lets millennials keep in touch with friends by sharing moments from their lives.

Snapchat is a way of seeing the world through the eyes of other people that Facebook and Instagram just don’t offer, and I have no idea why that is.

What is Influencer Marketing, and How Can You Use It?

What is Influencer Marketing, and How Can You Use It? | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it

Consumers value opinions that are expressed directly to them by people over advertising messages delivered by companies. According to a study by McKinsey, this value is so strong that word of mouth is the primary factor behind 20 to 50 percent of all purchasing decisions.

This is true across all industries, but the influence of other consumers is greatest when:

- consumers are buying a product for the first time,

- and when they are considering an expensive product.

The same study also showed that consumer-to-consumer word of mouth generates more than twice the sales of paid advertising, even when it is marketing-induced....

The Internet of Things and the Future of Social Commerce | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it

If you have not heard the term “Internet of Things”, get ready to start hearing it because it will be an everyday phrase in the very near future.

The Internet of Things is the connectivity of previously unconnected or “dark” objects. Objects in a very broad sense because all things can have the ability to be connected.

Consumer goods are included in this category of everything, which means implications for marketing, data collection, and the future of social commerce. This is a new frontier in marketing, e-commerce, and social media.

Creation vs. Curation: Do You Need to Make or Moderate? - Relevance

Creation vs. Curation: Do You Need to Make or Moderate? - Relevance | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it

The Content Marketing Institute reported that 90 percent of organizations are marketing with content. And now, Forrester predicts that enterprise content volume is growing at a rate of 200 percent annually. It’s safe to say that most companies are embarking on or are deep into a content marketing initiative.

Right now, companies are generally practicing a ratio of 65 percent created and about 35 percent curated. While that may be the average, that may not be the right balance for every company. We’ve found that 40 percent original, 30 percent licensed curated content, and 30 percent UGC or employee created content. But the needs for every brand is different.

Drew Hodges's curator insight, February 26, 1:06 PM

This article is talking about how a business should decide whether to curate information or create it. They explain creation simply as make the information that is unique and making it public. There are a couple of options for curation however. A business can curate third party information or businesses can outsource their curation to a trusted third party.

As a student when they talk about curation, I think about sharing a post on Facebook or copy and pasting a link and posting it. However it is more  in depth than that. As technology is improving at an almost exponential  rate every year, more and more businesses are coming into the market and fulfilling a niche that has never been seen before. This can be seen with businesses who's sole purpose is to curate information for other businesses.

Five Things I Learned About Writing Headlines from Twitter

In an environment where 80% of people don’t read past the headline before sharing it (remember NPR’s April Fool’s prank?), that 140 character space needs to be pretty competitive. But even 140 characters is long for a headline. The best of them top out at 80 characters (which leaves #justenoughspace for other things, @amiright).

Become the David Mamet of Marketing With These 3 Storytelling Tips

Become the David Mamet of Marketing With These 3 Storytelling Tips | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it

Storytelling is the communication of human experiences in words, images, and sounds. From its origins around the camp fire, to modern-day literature and film, storytelling has continually evolved as a tool for communicating experiences and traditions from one generation to the next.

In marketing, storytelling has the power to engage target audiences on an emotional level like never before. In an online environment, where audiences are bombarded with information from all directions, it is no longer about breaking through “the noise” of your competitors. Instead, modern marketing aims to give consumers what they want, namely drama, in the form of a brand story.

Because my blogs are rather niche-oriented and appeal to only a limited amount of people (news, electronics, ham radio, science-technology), I felt safe from phantom followers and junk subscriptions that often plague more popular web sites and blogs.  How wrong I was!  Even my narrowly-focused efforts had a few "suspicious folowers", who were quickly removed from my subscriber and mailing lists with the "Fake Followers" tool.  This is indeed a strange world. Twitter CEO: You Don’t Have to Tweet to Use Twitter

Twitter CEO: You Don’t Have to Tweet to Use Twitter | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it

Twitter only added 4 million users in the fourth quarter of 2014, but Twitter chief exec Dick Costolo isn’t worried about the platform's long-term appeal.

One of the most interesting tidbits in the interview is Costolo’s stance on what he says to people he meets who don’t use Twitter. Usually their position is that they don’t have anything to tweet. Costolo’s answer: that’s fine – you don’t have to tweet to use Twitter.

I meet people who say, “Oh, I don’t tweet.” I think there’s still a misconception that the reason they’d sign up is to tweet. When I meet them, I tell them, “No, you don’t have to.”

Are Mobile App-Install Ads the End-All to Social Marketing?

Are Mobile App-Install Ads the End-All to Social Marketing? | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it
Last week, Pinterest teamed up with Apple to roll out App Pins—a feature that lets users save and share apps to boards. For example, someone looking for a recipe on Pinterest may see a meal-planning app pop up in search results. Clicking on the posts then lets a user download the app straight from Pinterest.

With 75 percent of the social network's traffic coming from mobile, the new tool seems like a natural fit for Pinterest marketers. But Pinterest may also be too late to capitalize on the tactic since Facebook and Twitter are already bolstering their revenues with app-install ads.

Six Content Marketing Myths—Busted

Six Content Marketing Myths—Busted | Social Media Useful Info | Scoop.it
B2B marketers consistently cite creating content that engages as a top challenge of content marketing. That is a genuine hurdle, but making it harder to overcome are the preconceptions that marketing team members likely bring to the effort.

Getting content marketing right is both more complex than its most fervent promoters claim... and easier than doubters fear. Carrying beliefs on either end of the spectrum into a content program will hamper its effectiveness.

The first step toward success? Getting real.

What do Your Tweets Say About Your Dark Side?

Do you consider yourself a passionate person? Or maybe you’re something of an egotist?

A new Twitter tool analyzes your most recent 3,500 tweets to determine what your timeline says about your dark side.

It is interesting to see how we can unconsciously reveal this part of ourselves through the use of social media. It’s worth noting that just because we are not fully aware of this aspect of ourselves does not necessarily mean that it is something to shy away from. Our ‘hidden personas’ can sometimes make us appreciate ourselves more and reveal qualities that we like.

How to Get Better Results From Your Content

The phrase “great content” frustrates the spit out of day-to-day business owners. I tell my clients that my definition of great content is similar to the Supreme Court’s definition of pornography - “I know it when I see it.” But we both know that this definition isn’t good enough.
