"SEO and use of Social Media are essential to success. On their own, they’re only a piece of the puzzle, and only doing one may not produce the results you want". SEO, or search engine optimization, is a form of marketing through which a company’s website, or piece of content on a website, reaches a higher ranking on search engines to maximize visibility to consumers thereby creating a higher probability of traffic, which can later translate to sales and/or interaction depending on your business goals. This is accomplished through creation of “do follow” links within a number of different arenas. While there’s more to making a web-based company successful than just good SEO, it is a very important part of getting clicks and page views.

How would you feel if your Facebook page was shut down? What if your blog, where you create, post your ideas and thoughts was turned off? These are questions that we often don't want to contemplate. For me, the reaction would be one of loss.

It all starts with understanding your target audience or your target persona(s), and reaching them through the content channels that appeal to them most. And by doing that you can keep in mind following ideas:
Understand Your Lead Source If the primary goal of content marketing is to drive leads, then make sure you know where your leads are coming from. If you’re driving more leads from your blog content than your webinar landing page, focus more on blog content.
Leads Are Great – Revenue is Real The reality is that it doesn’t matter how many leads you have if you can’t effectively convert them to customers. Leads are a good early indicator of channel effectiveness, but ultimately content marketing ROI needs to be based on customers and revenue – not leads.
Content Should Be Viral Social media has become the most prominent delivery mechanism for content marketing. Often your content assets can only go as far as your social reach. If your Twitter following is full of fake accounts, all you have is a big, fake, vain follower number. If you have a real following, you’ll have an audience of influencers and advocates who will share and create conversations around your content. That’s virality for you! Measure which types of content tend to go viral.
Work With The Resources You Have You may come to understand which types of content drive more leads and conversions for your business, but another factor to consider is the time and money that goes into different types of content. So, depending on the resources available to you as a marketer, focus your efforts on producing content that you know to be effective.

Would you like to become a social media marketer? You know, so you can actually use Twitter and Facebook – proactively – at work? Sure you would. But you have to memorise a few key stats, first. For example, did you know that the U.S. is the top country on Twitter, and that 34 percent of marketers have generated leads using the micro-blogging social network? You’ll need to know that Pinterest reached 10 million U.S. monthly visitors faster than any other independent site in history, that almost half (48 percent) of Fortune Global 100 companies are on Google+ and that 85 percent of SMBs with a dedicated social media platform reported an increase in their overall market exposure. This infographic takes a closer look at some key facts and figures from the world of social media.

It’s been a while since SocialTimes did a round-up of the various tools that helped users manage their Twitter accounts by finding who to follow, following new people, unfollowing many people at once and organizing groups of users they follow into lists. Since our last round-up, Twitter has restricted use of its API significantly, causing several tools to shut down. No longer functional areUntweeps, Just Unfollow, Twit Cleaner, Who Follows Whom and Tweet Effect. Tweeter Karma is still functional but has had to remove its bulk unfollow tools.

A new study by Burst Media concludes that one-quarter of Internet users use Google+, placing it squarely in the #2 position for social networks. The data were from a self-reported study in March 2013, with a margin of error of +/- 1.9%. Which sounds rather compelling until you realize that Nielsen did a similar study in the same time-frame which determined that Google was smaller than Twitter (and users spend less than 7 minutes per month on G+).
