Community and Evolution - Curagami

From www.curagami.com

Community and Evolution is the collision between Cendrine Marrouat's B2B News Network Mary Green interview and Columnfive's' Evolution of Human Connection.
Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com:

Yes, @Martin (Marty) Smith, community building is hard. You have to be present, authentic, and pay attention to your message. These are three things we often talk about, but in a superficial manner, IMO.

A brand cannot just drop messages and leave. The team has to go beyond the obvious and grandiloquent words, and work in the shadows to reap rewards.

In my 13 years as a freelancer, I have spent more time doing research, interacting with people, and curating content than actually creating posts. I'm not here just to make money. I also want to meet interesting people and build relationships that matter.

Another excellent piece from one of the hardest working marketers I know.

Your Content Marketing Strategy Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

From hbr.org

It just has to exist.
Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com:

Many marketers are greedy and blind. They create too much content without really knowing why. They just follow what "experts" tell them to do.

Nick Westergaarden is right when he says that, "If we want more effective content marketing, we have to get smart with strategy." We need to do better and ask ourselves the right questions...

The Huge Mistake We Had Been Making With Our Emails

From blog.drift.com

How we fixed a huge mistake we were making with our email marketing (and a few tips to help make your emails better, too).
Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com:

Welcome emails are among the most difficult pieces of content to create. They have to be a good followup to your subscription process.

Sometimes, we want to say too much in them. As a result, we run the risk of overwhelming sendees.

Dave Gerhardt of Drift learnt a valuable lesson by paying attention to other welcome emails. It's a great case study that goes to prove what I always say: Others are an excellent source of inspiration. :-)

From blog.twitter.com

You can already do a lot in a Tweet, but we want you to be able to do even more.
Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com's curator insight, May 24, 11:38 AM

Twitter is finally caving in to requests:

  • @names and attachements will no longer count toward the 140-character count.
  • You can now RT and quote tweet yourself
  • No need to use the ”.@” convention at the beginning of tweets for all to see.

This is a very good thing, IMO. People were confused by the rule...

Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com:

When it comes to writing for the web, many people make the mistake of believing that it works like essays. I have had to explain many clients that attention-spans are much shorter online.

David Leonhardt has written a stellar post here.

"Before you start writing, define your goal. Are you trying to sell, to inform or to connect? Your goal will determine the approach you take. Once you have clarity on the approach, you can bring clarity to your readers."

Demian Farnworth reveals six essential qualities of product pages that dominate search results and make sales. Discover how to use them on your website.
Cendrine Marrouat - cendrinemarrouat.com:

Just before leaving the house for a photoshoot, I chanced upon this post.

It starts with a premise: Amazon has been around a lot longer than your own website. So, no matter how good your book / product is, its page will always appear after the page on Amazon in search results.

Duh, I thought. Until I read further.

Beyond SEO and link authority, there is something else that matters even more to the visitors of your product page: Your story.

Happy to see Saddleback Leather mentioned in this post. This company is one of the best at storytelling!
