Twitter users forming tribes with own language, tweet analysis shows | Social Media Stuff | Scoop.it
Analysis of millions of tweets finds more precise use of social media which seems to contradict idea that Twitter users want to share everything with everyone

digital digs | Social Media Stuff | Scoop.it
digital digs investigates the cultural and social effects of emerging media network technologies and practices with a special emphasis on writing, higher education, and teaching.
Ky Stevens's insight:

As some of you may know, I recently finished my Master's degree, which was an M. A. with an emphasis in Technical Communication at Texas State University, and Alex Reid's article, "Humanities (In)decision-making," is inspiring and makes me want to get my PhD! I wish I had him as an English prof four years ago instead of some of the rotten ones I've had to deal with over the years who are the opposite of inspiring except for a select handful, and they know who they are. In any case, check out his article that brings down the age-old paradigm that people with PhDs in the humanities should be hyper-specialized. Instead he offers a "purposive" and "pragmatic" approach.

Ky Stevens's insight:

I always find the concentration of media in an infographic compelling, and it  is useful to know who the big players are in any field. Media on the other hand isn't your typical can of worms. People once said, "knowledge is power," but know it is more likely that phrase has seen the last of its days as "power" and information are concentrated through fewer channels.

How Social Media is Changing the SEO Industry

How Social Media is Changing the SEO Industry | Social Media Stuff | Scoop.it

The power of social lives on beyond its ubiquity, and wields a transformative impact on SEO. Please understand that I’m not going to propagate any myths about how to increase your rankings via social media.

Nor am I going to propose that SEO-is-dead-so-long-live-social. Instead, I’ll attempt to demonstrate how social is infringing upon the traditional realm of SEO as a major factor in how people find information, convert, and interact with the Internet.

Obama's scientists say a lot of things, like global warming, it's all based on lies...in reality, he and other communists don't like social media and wants to control it or see its demise.

Tom Hauck's comment, May 6, 2013 2:22 AM
Does anyone else see a pattern here. Obama has his team of "specialists" investigate every aspect of the things we value as a freedom...and they always have a "finding" against that freedom. Climate...gun rights...healthcare....education...now the internet. CISPA opened the door to losing the internet. Obama will produce studies showing the damage the internet does and he'll use CISPA to save us from knowing too much....

To see real results from social, you need consistency.  No one is perfect and you won’t follow a strict schedule in most cases, but you do want to develop a pattern of consistency.

As with most areas of running an online business, a little creativity and a lot of planning will help you deal with those times when you just don’t have the time to be as social as you would like.

I have found that there are tons and tons of strategies to SEO. Some beginners that enter are just bewildered by the amount of information they feel is needed to be learned.
Gaurav Pandey's comment, May 11, 2013 7:35 PM
Hi David, I feel it's the same for marketing, if not more overwhelming. However, going forward we will see a lot of overlap between the two roles and it's probably not going to affect those who are really good at SEO, but a lot of people with intermediate-advanced knowledge who call themselves SEO pro's will surely come under the pump as a marketing expert could acquire intermediate SEO skills if he has to.
