We all use Social Networks whether we are in business or using it for personal use...however, did you know you could reach a larger population of youth on YouTube than on TV?
Boils down to, if you have an online business today, then you need social media. There I said it. This might seem like a bold statement, (given I have advised against using social networks for the sake of following the pack) especially for those whose services are not specifically catered to the age group that traditionally use social media. I get it, I hear you. Yet, I’ve seen how social media can impact the success of a business and, it’s absolutely staggering. Businesses need to see and understand their relationship with social media in order adapt it to a world increasingly reliant on this method of communication.
A great article about how to reach your audience. It's not just about speaking to them, but listening.
Some social networking or blog sites, such as Facebook and WordPress, feature the option to promote your posts to members of a certain demographic, making it likelier that people will see your page in their newsfeed. This option requires you to invest a little money, but it can really go a long way in increasing your page’s traffic by the dozens, hundreds, or even thousands!
They might be stereotyped as misunderstood, directionless and fickle, but when it comes to digital content, teens tweens and young adults know exactly what they want:
They want to feel something.
The younger demographic’s taste for new, visually oriented, bite-sized media has evolved in part thanks to the plethora of social platforms and creative software that’s available. Tumblr, Gifsoup, the Creative Cloud and many others are the perfect outlet for youthful wit and angst, and they’re ideal publishing tools for brands, too.
As we’ve touched on before, you’re never going to get a true ‘dislike’ button. There are a lot of reasons why you’re never going to get one, despite much of the Facebook-using public clamoring for one for quite some time.

Getting Great Feedback in an age when even cute kitten videos on YouTube are getting flamed with lingual blowtorches, it may seem like a risky thing...
How does a company go about getting great feedback? Guessing doesn’t help when you’re trying to get feedback on your site, whether you hope to use it for further marketing efforts or to improve its functionality. You need a way of getting more honest feedback to help you drive your site’s future development and online marketing, but how can you reach out to your customers from across the web? Basically, what are they seeing that you’re not. We wrote a post a while back on Seeing Your Website from Your Visitor’s Point of View. Believe it or not the suggestions could be as easy as the the recommendations below.
The reason I started this new series and have asked all these wonderful women for their input with Women In Tech: Meet Yukari Peerless. I want to share...
I’ve been lucky to work with so many wonderful women globally, and yes, I have worked with wonderful men too, but my goals has always been to help and promote women. When I first took this project on, I wondered what sort of backlash I’d have to face… happens every time, regardless of where my heart is. There will be haters, and people that don’t agree with my “bias” based on gender. That’s not what this is about; it’s about introducing wonderful women who deserve to be recognized for their leadership, work ethics, and wisdom.
The question is, why are we finding so many women in this field – and are they really capable of leading the charge?
An alignment between women in leadership and women as consumers has been underway for some time. We’re no longer a niche market, and that change is reflected in evolving occupational roles as well — think Sheryl Sandberg. Meanwhile, our evolution as players in social entrepreneurship can be traced to the not-so-distant past. Women always worked in social occupations (teachers, nurses, mothers), but the more ambitious women of the Mad Men-era emerged as leaders in community societies and volunteer organizations.
Organic reach has plummeted. You need to think of social media as just one facet of a diverse marketing plan.
For small business owners, this is not good news. The biggest problem is that paying for social media ads doesn’t always translate into income, and there has been some convincing evidence questioning the effectiveness of these ads.
This doesn’t mean we should abandon social media, but we have to be smart about where we spend our time and money.
UPDATE June 3, 2014: Google has announced a feature that now allows a Brand Page to Become Google+ Local Page. Please read this newer article before reading th
The answer to each is pretty much the same. Some givens of the Google Plus page environment:
Google will automatically create a G+ Page for local for any business that has a bricks and mortar presence, as well as for individual doctors, lawyers and real estate agents at those locations.Typically there is no way to suppress or delete this G+ Page for local. It is not possible to merge two G+ Pages (unless they are both of the type: local and for the same business at the same address, in which case you should contact support). Nor is it possible to pass followers from one page to another.Google is much, much more likely to show a G+ Page for local in the search results than a company/brand page for a given local business.A business can have as many other G+ Page types as they desire for their brand, events or the parent company.
Understanding how to use social media and social networks for your business, is the first step towards a well rounded roadmap for growth.
Understand The Barriers of Social Media
The largest obstacle for many businesses attempting to implement a social media strategy is a lack of know-how. In order to successfully use social media as a tool, the business must understand which barrier is specific to their company. According
