I don’t think links are disappearing. And I don’t think PageRank is disappearing, either, at least not yet. But I am sure that Google is leaning heavily toward a more authority and relevance based approach to assigning rank to entities.  And I think they would dearly LOVE to be able to do away with all the gaming of links and PageRank that’s been plaguing the Internet for years. This could be a big step in the right directio

The juxtaposition of child language research and social TV analytics may seem jarring. But in fact the same basic principles are at play: linking language to context; studying communication feedback loops; gathering (lots of) observational data in the wild; using data visualization to see patterns in the data; and developing machine learning to model, predict, and -- ultimately -- shed light on how people communicate.
