First interview question, "What do you know about our company". It's a classic, and if they've not at least got the basics from the website the interview pretty much stops there. It's not rocket science to visit and 'About Us' page. Do not pass go, do not collect salary.

7 Content Marketing Strategies for Social Media

7 Content Marketing Strategies for Social Media | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Content marketing and social media go together like peas in a pod, lovebirds sitting in a tree, “Brangelina.”

You get the picture: the two work well alone, but together?Yowza!

In fact, social media is a content marketing platform. Perform your social media management well and you’re actually engaged in content marketing. You can’t really talk about one without the other.

Level343's insight:

Of we are to believe these numbers....

The Content Marketing Institute reported in January that the vast majority of business-to-business (B2B) marketers distributed their content via social media sites.

The breakdown:

83 percent distributed content via LinkedIn;80 percent via Twitter;80 percent via Facebook;61 percent via YouTube; and39 percent via Google+.

Level343's insight:

Another brilliant post by Bill Slawski "How does Google know what to show about these things? One hint from the patent, echoed in the video, is that what people ask about in Google can determine what Google will display in the knowledge panel. If people tend to ask about Abraham Lincoln’s height, for instance, the search engine will show it in the knowledge panel"

The Brain of Google Brain, Andrew Ng on the Future of AI

The Brain of Google Brain, Andrew Ng on the Future of AI | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Daniela Hernandez of Wired reports,Daniela Hernandez of Wired reports, “There’s a theory that human intelligence stems from a single algorithm. The idea arises from experiments suggesting that the portion of your brain dedicated to processing sound from your ears could also handle sight for your eyes. This is possible only while your brain is in the earliest stages of development, but it implies that the brain is — at its core — a general-purpose machine that can be tuned to specific tasks.

Level343's insight:

About seven years ago, Stanford computer science professor Andrew Ng stumbled across this theory, and it changed the course of his career, reigniting a passion for artificial intelligence, or AI. ‘For the first time in my life,’ Ng says, ‘it made me feel like it might be possible to make some progress on a small part of the AI dream within our lifetime’.”

How To Organize A Social Media Content Strategy

How To Organize A Social Media Content Strategy | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it
Crafting a content strategy for social media is just as important as developing a strategy for what is published on the company blog and website.
Level343's insight:

Social media management is a constant and ongoing process due to the nature of the instant, online world in which social networks live. When it comes to developing a content strategy for social media channels, it often works best for passionate, dedicated people to collaborate across departments, rather than handing the task off to the marketing department. By getting input from a variety of sectors within a company, a social media content strategy can really succeed.

Mention vs. Google Alerts: What's the Best Brand Monitoring Tool? | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it
A complete review of Mention, a new brand monitoring service. How does Mention compare to Google Alerts?
Level343's insight:

OK, so Google Alerts is free, but that’s part of the problem with it – it doesn’t make money so Google isn’t putting any resources into maintaining quality.

Mention also has a free tier, which gets you three alerts, 500 mentions per month, and 1 month of history.

The next tier is the Pro Plan. This is the plan I reviewed, as Mention comped me a month when they saw me say I was trying it out on Twitter. The Pro Plan is $19.99 per month and gets you unlimited alerts, 50,000 mentions per month, unlimited history, and access to stats and data export tools.

This is especially good for companies who are not afraid to show who they are, who their employees are and have cool things to video. A short (3-4 minute) reel will capture attention AND if you seed it properly with keywords you will get great SEO juice. An added benefit, you can use it in multiple content areas of your site. One video equals many opportunities.

How to determine what’s working in your social media campaign | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Even though social media has been around for a quite a while and is still trending, many digital marketers are struggling with how to measure the ROI of their social media campaign. This question gets asked a lot, even though many large and small organizations have already integrated this communication medium into their traditional marketing efforts.

With social media it is key to continuously evaluate and monitor what people are talking about that is relevant to your company and respond to them appropriately. There are hundreds of tools available that you can use to measure basically everything regarding your social media campaign, but in reality it’s a waste of resources, time, and money if you fail to monitor only selective metrics that matter to you.

There are many metrics you can use to measure your campaign and many of the tools that measure this will have their own metrics, but which actually matters? Find below a couple of metrics that I use as a baseline for all my social media campaigns.

Why Facebook is blue: The science of colors in marketing | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it
How do colors affect us when we buy things? The latest research reveals the science of colors in marketing and how to use it for your advantage:
Level343's insight:

Why is Facebook blue? According to The New Yorker, the reason is simple. It’s because Mark Zuckerberg is red-green colorblind. This means that blue is the color Mark can see the best. In his own words Zuck says:

“Blue is the richest color for me I can see all of blue.”

Not highly scientific right? Well, although in the case of Facebook, that isn’t the case, there are some amazing examples of how colors actually affect our purchasing decisions.

How to Measure the Impact & ROI of Social Media Marketing Strategies

How to Measure the Impact & ROI of Social Media Marketing Strategies | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Measuring PPC and SEO is relatively straightforward. But how do we go about credibly measuring social media campaigns, and wider public relations and audience awareness campaigns?

As the hype level of social media starts to fall, then more questions are asked about return on investment. During the early days of anything, the hype of the new is enough to sustain an endeavor. People don't want to miss out. If their competitors are doing it, that's often seen as good enough reason to do it, too.

Level343's insight:

Public relations is more than about selling, of course. It’s also about managing reputation. It’s about getting audiences to maintain a certain point of view. Social media provides the opportunity to talk to customers and the public directly by using technology to dis-intermediate the traditional gatekeepers.

However, there’s plenty of demographic data available on social networks if you go looking for it. For example, research from reputable sources like Pew Internet and Pingdom can give you a much clearer picture of who and where your target audience is hanging out on social media.

Level343's insight:

The question is, how will Twitter display these Tweets? At the very least, they could give me back my local search option (which I still swear was real). They could add a separate “local” tab to their interface but that feels bulky.

They could insert local Tweets into your Twitter stream, but that feels invasive. It’s also the best solution. It’s like those news alerts that show up at the bottom of the screen when you’re watching TV. There’s a vicious storm on the way, take cover! I wouldn’t have thought to search for a storm I didn’t know was coming, but I’m glad my local TV station decided to interrupt my show to let me know.
