Why 8% of sales people get 80% of the sales

Why 8% of sales people get 80% of the sales | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it
Only 2% of sales occur when two parties meet for the first time. 80% of sales occur only after at least five continuous follow-ups. You must follow-up
Level343's insight:

Think about that. It takes at least five continuous follow up efforts after the initial sales contact, before a customer says yes.  FIVE!!

There are some fascinating statistics on this:

44% of sales people give up after one “no”22% give up after two “no’s”14% give up after three “no’s”12% give up after four “no’s”

That tells you that 92% of sales people give up after 4 “no’s”, and only 8% of sales people ask for the order a fifth time.

83 incredible examples of social media marketing | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Social media marketing has, over the past few years, gone from something practiced by a few early adopters to a crucial part of most big advertising campaigns. Level343's insight:

This is a keeper... Oodles of links.

The awards have just announced the nominees for the 2013 edition. While there is still a strong US presence, emerging market countries such as Brazil, Russia and China are increasingly evident among the nominees.

Among the more interesting campaigns from those nominees is one called “You are Blind” from the Hungry Boys agency in Russia, which aims change the treatment of blind children, by giving people insight into what they go through. The primary way of doing this was with a website that challenged people to navigate a character through a virtual city using only sound.

How to Measure the Impact & ROI of Social Media Marketing Strategies

How to Measure the Impact & ROI of Social Media Marketing Strategies | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Measuring PPC and SEO is relatively straightforward. But how do we go about credibly measuring social media campaigns, and wider public relations and audience awareness campaigns?

As the hype level of social media starts to fall, then more questions are asked about return on investment. During the early days of anything, the hype of the new is enough to sustain an endeavor. People don't want to miss out. If their competitors are doing it, that's often seen as good enough reason to do it, too.

Level343's insight:

Public relations is more than about selling, of course. It’s also about managing reputation. It’s about getting audiences to maintain a certain point of view. Social media provides the opportunity to talk to customers and the public directly by using technology to dis-intermediate the traditional gatekeepers.

The Brain of Google Brain, Andrew Ng on the Future of AI

The Brain of Google Brain, Andrew Ng on the Future of AI | Social Media Marketing Strategies | Scoop.it

Daniela Hernandez of Wired reports,Daniela Hernandez of Wired reports, “There’s a theory that human intelligence stems from a single algorithm. The idea arises from experiments suggesting that the portion of your brain dedicated to processing sound from your ears could also handle sight for your eyes. This is possible only while your brain is in the earliest stages of development, but it implies that the brain is — at its core — a general-purpose machine that can be tuned to specific tasks.

Level343's insight:

About seven years ago, Stanford computer science professor Andrew Ng stumbled across this theory, and it changed the course of his career, reigniting a passion for artificial intelligence, or AI. ‘For the first time in my life,’ Ng says, ‘it made me feel like it might be possible to make some progress on a small part of the AI dream within our lifetime’.”
