The reason I started this new series and have asked all these wonderful women for their input with Women In Tech: Meet Yukari Peerless. I want to share...
I’ve been lucky to work with so many wonderful women globally, and yes, I have worked with wonderful men too, but my goals has always been to help and promote women. When I first took this project on, I wondered what sort of backlash I’d have to face… happens every time, regardless of where my heart is. There will be haters, and people that don’t agree with my “bias” based on gender. That’s not what this is about; it’s about introducing wonderful women who deserve to be recognized for their leadership, work ethics, and wisdom.
The question is, why are we finding so many women in this field – and are they really capable of leading the charge?
An alignment between women in leadership and women as consumers has been underway for some time. We’re no longer a niche market, and that change is reflected in evolving occupational roles as well — think Sheryl Sandberg. Meanwhile, our evolution as players in social entrepreneurship can be traced to the not-so-distant past. Women always worked in social occupations (teachers, nurses, mothers), but the more ambitious women of the Mad Men-era emerged as leaders in community societies and volunteer organizations.
Organic reach has plummeted. You need to think of social media as just one facet of a diverse marketing plan.

This doesn’t mean we should abandon social media, but we have to be smart about where we spend our time and money.
