Is Twitter also getting into the music business?

According to CNET, the answer is yes. The blog cites the recent acquisition of We Are Hunted has helped the company develop a music app, creatively known as Twitter Music, and it could be released on iOS by the end of this month. The supposed app will provide a curated music selection based off who the user follows and other “signals.” It will stream on SoundCloud.

Good point here by Nathaniel Mott on PandoDaily. But as he writes, Facebook remains edited by an algorithm that has to make some trade-offs between revenue generation and relevancy. Isn't that a fundamental flaw?

Good question. With the decline of local print newspapers, could Facebook News Feed take their place? National newspapers have already moved online but there's a void for "small town" news.
