New Social RSS Feed Reader: Feedolu

New Social RSS Feed Reader: Feedolu | Social Media, Social Might | Scoop.it

Feedolu is in public BETA from September 5th. It is an RSS feed reader that makes it easily to read, organize and share content.

Excerpt from review article by Shelly Kramer on V3 Blog:
"Feedolu uses advanced feed reading technology and combines that with social features commonly used on sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Feedolu users will have a public profile with their own URL (feedolu.com/username).
You can customize your background, create a bio and attach a link to a website (like Twitter) and website RSS feed as well.
When a user attaches an RSS feed to their profile, other users can then go and subscribe to that RSS feed, giving that user the opportunity of increased website traffic via subscriptions.

Here are key features:
- User Following;
- SEO;
- Unlimited Feeds and Feed Walls;
- Back-End Processing.

Free to use.

Try out Feedolu: https://www.feedolu.com

It will be impressive, once it is achieved. Right now it is only good research being carried out at PNL. I wonder if Howard has heard about Kira's prediction software. Amazing ! I have read about her on MIT Technology review and watch a video of her work but it is in Hebrew with Spanish subtitles.

<<From print media to the internet, scientists have progressed from using magazines, newspapers and tradeshows to the internet, social media, and virtual events.

.........

Scientists now view social media as a great resource for eavesdropping, crowd sourcing, collecting data, and sharing resources, as well as discussing, debating, and developing relationships and communities. Perhaps the most advantageous aspect of social media for scientists has proven to be the virtual event; a place where interaction with attendees and customers is more cost-effective and integrated. Today, a staggering 90% of scientists prefer online meeting and video conferencing systems due to the ever growing world of social media.>>

Social media for scientists

Social media for scientists | Social Media, Social Might | Scoop.it
Use social media to make and teach science, and to share and communicate your research. Engagement in social media provides you with an opportunity to be considered a thought leader. It's a new world out there!
JoseAlvarezCornett's insight:

I have created this new blog to curate social media for scientists. They can use social media not only to make and teach science,but also to share and communicate your research. Engagement in social media provides scientists with an opportunity to be considered a thought leader.

Alan Alda:

“if scientists could communicate more in their own voices—in a familiar tone, with a less specialized vocabulary—would a wide range of people understand them better? Would their work be better understood by the general public, policy-makers, funders, and, even in some cases, other scientists?”

Publicness in a picture: The 2011 Stanley Cup Game 7 Canucks Fan Zone

Publicness in a picture: The 2011 Stanley Cup Game 7 Canucks Fan Zone | Social Media, Social Might | Scoop.it

CLICK TITLE TO ACCESS PICTURE

BEFORE THE RIOT version 1 - The Vancouver Canucks Fan Zone along Georgia St. for Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final was captured at 5:46 pm on June 15, 2011. It is made up of 216 photos (12 across by 18 down) stitched together, taken over a 15-minute span, and is not supposed to represent a single moment in time. The final hi-res file is 69,394 X 30,420 pixels or 2,110 megapixels. Special thanks to Bonita Howard and CBC Real Estate.

JoseAlvarezCornett's insight:

This picture (and its resolution) represents yet another aspect of what Jeff Jervis calls Publicness. Not only we are moving into an AORTA times (Always OnReal Time Access) we are also entering the publicness era (transparency, oppenness, and collaboration).

Jeff Jarvis: Public Parts--Sharing in the digital age http://buzzmachine.com/publicparts/

http://buzzmachine.com/2010/09/26/the-benefits-of-publicness/

When we are on the streets and even at home we are public personas. The key, I think is authenticity (being truthful and authentic, if you are not people will find it out quickly). Room to hide has shrunk to infinitesimal proportions.

Bear this in mind when you go out (and when you stay inside).

PS: Another example is the work of Kira Radisnky
