The blog is dead, long live the blog

The blog is dead, long live the blog | Social Media sites | Scoop.it

"The Stream might be on the wane but still it dominates. All media on the web and in mobile apps has blog DNA in it and will continue to for a long while."

"Instead of blogging, people are posting to Tumblr, tweeting, pinning things to their board, posting to Reddit, Snapchatting, updating Facebook statuses, Instagramming, and publishing on Medium."

The blog is not actually dead, it is a creative way of looking at how we are doing it.

Those who have followed me for a while know that I am a big fan of WordPress. One of my blogs uses the fully hosted version, but the other two I own are self-hosted.

While I enjoy blogging on a WordPress.com site because the basic features are awesome (and free), I still prefer paying to get more flexibility. Most of this flexibility comes in the form of plugins.

There are plugins for pretty much everything right now. Ivan Dimitrijevic talks about 23,000, and they have been downloaded at least 480 million times!

In his article, he introduces five that look really worth a try. I haven’t used any of them, but I’m really thinking of checking out uSquare.  The others are Royal Slider, Social Network Tabs, LiveChat, and Frontend Builder.

Gonna need this if I I'm going to pick up where I left off about a year ago.
