Not a surprise at all that the top 5 searched topics socially are (1) Technology / Scoial Media, (2) Fitness, Health, & Sports, (3) Music, (4) F&B, & (5) Travel... I think that this one dropped Movies / Cinema for sure

How much social media support are you giving your site?
Jayne Courts's comment,
May 22, 3:54 AM
Venkatesh - if I am able I give my site as much media support as I can. As a social media trainer I need to 'try out' media before I can teach others to use it and give an insight into which is useful and which is not. So I tend to put my site and what I am doing out on the various social media platforms at least twice a day - I don't over emphasise my site because that can be counter productive (people switch off if all they see from you is self-promotion) and so it is keeping your presence alive but not switching off potential clients by constant ME, ME, ME. I perform both SEO services and social media training for others (see - just a bit of self promotion LOL)
Venkatesh Iyer (venkyiyer.com)'s comment,

Jayne, Thanks, but to be truthful, my comment wasn't addressed at anyone specific! I was just trying to get all readers (of my comment) to reflect on the extent to which they (positively) use social media to support their site. I am very interested in feedback in this issue, because I have been dithering about launching my site for a long time now.

Trend watching is not only fun, it's one of the areas that every copywriter should keep an eye on.
Trends are ideal topics to give your content some snap. Topical issues and interest areas are also shared more often (obvioulsy).
So if you create content either for yourself, or for a client make sure that you have weekly recommendations for inclusion in their owned channel (blog / website) and their shared channels (social media).
There are plenty of great trend tracking software applications on the web, many of them free. Make use of them.
Keep an eye out for trends which are directly and indirectly related to client services and products and leverage this knowledge. Remember the sign of a great copywriter is to be able to apply knowledge laterally. The topic may not be directly related to everyday client activities, but will the audience find the trend interesting?
Remember to keep your copy light, humor never hurt either.

Can't help feeling surprised that contests are scoring highest as engagement means for social media followers.
Interesting factoid here: questions rank pretty low on the engagement totem pole.
Posting this because it's useful, i.e., the "info" drives the "graphic", not the other way around.
