This article is an extremely useful source for all social media marketers. By reading this article I found out more information that I was unaware of and have been responsible for two different companies social media sites. It was facinating to find out the tricks such as "muting" the @ in certain situations for as long as you'd like. This feature does not unfollow the account, but restricts any notifications from that user tagging your account in any and all posts. With all the new upcoming use of social media and the popularity of companies using these techniques it is very critical to keep up with all upddates. The article may be brief but all the information that is not on the surface of social media is in there to guide any user in the right direction of maintaining an account they are pleased with. Since the internet has become so much part of our daily lives, and social media has become a great influence on our purchases and opinions it would be best for a company to take advantage of it. Any company with older employees could also benefit from an article such as this because there are picture steps of how to get to the settings and adjust the account. I feel like this article can be used as a great stencil to crafting and editing social media accounts.

How Social Media Has Changed So Far in 2014

How Social Media Has Changed So Far in 2014 | Social Media, SEO, Mobile, Digital Marketing | Scoop.it

How does anyone keep up with all the social media changes in 2014 and the constant updates and search algorithm changes with pretty much all social media platforms and search engines? You need to keep well informed, read a ton of material, and keep working projects in social media and search to gain experience and learn best practices.

Joseph Welke's curator insight, September 29, 1:11 PM

Social media has gone through many changes in 2014. Most of the major changes have been within social networks such as twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. To start, twitter has introduced promoted videos. This will be a way where companies can blast out a promotional pitch in a short video that will come up on twitter feeds. I feel as if this could get some negative feedback from twitter users. Next, Facebook has gotten rid of companies forcing users to like there page to view certain content. This was causing pages to get more likes then they actually should have giving a false reading on the pages worth. LinkedIn has introduced a follow button on every page. This was a feature on many popular pages, but is now on every account. It allows you to follow a person to see there posts even if they aren't in their network. Lastly, Pinterest has introduced a private message feature. This is something that is available on most social media sites and Pinterest believed it was time to incorporate it into their platform.

Web Marketing is constantly changing, nothing works tomorrow that worked today. How can someone show you how to do it properly if it changes constantly? Well, technically they cannot, they can only teach you the basics, the rest is up to you; use what you know, adapt and be creative.

Following the leaders does not mean “mimicking,” them it simply means adapting what they teach to suit your own needs.

Lindsay Berk's curator insight, September 29, 10:22 PM

I think that this new innovative technology is just what Instagram and Facebook need in order to keep their viewers constantly interested. Hyperlapse is what this article is all about. This new software allows Instagram users to capture a quick video onto their Instagram account and do not even have to keep their finger on the button! Hyperlapse is a great change to their Instagram world and definitely will keep users aboard the Instagram ride! This application was intended for people with short attention spans and will hopefully grab their attention. I will definitely look into downloading this application because it is free and changes things up! This software first came out in August of 2014 and so far I have seen very few people using it. I do not think many people know about this Instagram feature but once it starts grabbing the attention of Instagram users I think will sweep social media and will be very successful.

How Do Advertisers Find Users on Second Devices?

How Do Advertisers Find Users on Second Devices? | Social Media, SEO, Mobile, Digital Marketing | Scoop.it

According to research by Time Warner, users switch between devices an average of 27 times a day.

Emily McCormick's curator insight, September 29, 1:38 PM

This article talks about the issue that advertisers face in keeping a uniform message to consumers who are switching between devices. The article describes a favorable and accurate approach—known as the deterministic approach—an advertiser uses to match a user to his or her device. In the deterministic approach, the advertiser uses the consumer’s login data to figure out which devices he or she is using. Login data tells the advertiser if the consumer is using a desktop, tablet, mobile, etc. This information reveals certain behaviors known to correlate with using different devices.

This is an extremely relevant topic to the mobile marketing world. As the article mentioned, advertisers and marketers have to keep a consistent and relevant message to consumers in order to reach higher sales and conversion rates. Figuring out which device a consumer is using gives insight into his or her activity allows marketers to adapt this targeted message based on the behavior from whichever device. After all, a user is probably a lot more easily distracted on his or her mobile device than on a desktop.
