Take a moment to ask yourself, "Can I clearly and succinctly state the core value proposition of the product or service that I am marketing?” and write down you answer.

You can't be everything to eveyone!

When developing marketing strategies for new clients we often come across this problem. They say the offer great service, a great product at a great price. Well that's just not good enough!

These values are mandatory, if you dont offer above, close your doors and do something else cause its only a matter of time before someone else (around the world) offers your market the same thing.

It's difficult to convonce clients to see the value in owning a niche as opposed to owing a small share of a huge market. The striongest argument in my opinion is if you own a niche, you also own the opinion leaders, innovators and early adopters. These are the aspirational segment that we all want to or end up mimiking. Own them and half your work is done. They will market for you as advocates of your brand.

Companies always need to remember that Social Media centres need to keep focused upon the need to create dynamic content to engage. If they are spending most of their time answering customer service issues regarding their brands then focus needs to centred on correcting those service issues and then concentrate on generating new news.

Be cautious with point 5 because it gives you excuses to be lazy and not update your site on your own. Otherwise this is a very good and actionable list.

Love that writers' can activate other people's brains by telling stories -- readers experience it as if they have lived it first hand. Ah, the power of a great story.

Good synthesis on Gamification.

I am personally a big fan of 'gamification' and the motivational benefits to learning it brings. The work of Prof James Paul Gee is particularly brilliant. Here's a superb summary of the psychology behind why kids find video games so engaging.

If you thought that distance learning was a product of today, then you would be mistaken. In fact, the first distance learning program on record took place in 1728, when a local teacher by the name of Caleb Phillips advertised shorthand correspondence lessons offered by mail! By 1800, the growth of the U.S. Postal Service brought about an increase in the number of distance learning correspondence courses in the country.
