Vine: "Make a Scene" on The Looping Video Social Networking App

Joshua OCock's insight:

Vine is a fantastic social media app for creating beautiful (or ugly) looping videos. A vine can be made of several short videos and can last up to 7 seconds in total. “Make a Scene” is their tagline, and with this app that is exactly what you can do. Its interface is very simple and fun to use. Being owned by Twitter, it is needless to say that the app supports seamless social media sharing – making it easy to share your ‘vines’ with friends and family.

Vine videos are a great way to share a story! If a picture speaks a thousand words I will leave it to your imagination how many words a looping video of 7 different scenes will speak…

Aside from the social realm, I see vine being a great promotional tool for businesses too.

See and share life in motion.

(Vine is available on iOS devices, Android, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8)

Evernote - Remember everything | The BEST note management tool out there, thumbs down. | Social media platforms | Scoop.it

"Evernote help you remember and act upon ideas, projects and experiences across all the computers, phones and tablets you use."

Joshua OCock's insight:

Now I know I'm a bit behind the times with this one, as the tool is not new at all and is very widely used - but I guess this is down to me not needing a note management tool until now. My research pointed me towards Evernote and I must say it is absolutely brilliant! My notes from all my meetings are now stylishly written, perfectly organised in folders and synced in live-time between my phone, tablet, work PC and personal Macbook. An organisational dream. I've installed the Evernote widget to on my new galaxy tab 3 too which is also brilliant for quite noting on the fly.

This is a must have for all on-the-go, driven business people who keep records and take notes at meetings. Very easy to use and install too so no critical business time will be wasted in setting things up. http://evernote.com - from an unbiased convert.

Facebook vs Google+ (head to head in the 'business and brand pages' ring)

Facebook vs Google+ (head to head in the 'business and brand pages' ring) | Social media platforms | Scoop.it

Has Facebook finally met its match? This has been the one question the forefront of every social media aficionado’s mind since the release of Google+

Your thoughts?

Joshua OCock's insight:

I have found that it is absolutely essential to very carefully study the industry you are in and your target audience to acheive social media success and engagement. This market knowledge must be incorporated into your social media strategy from square one. "There is no point being where your audience are not" - so find out where they are hanging out, and be there. In a way that they will want to engage and interact with you.

Robin Good's curator insight, June 28, 2013 7:22 AM

Scroll Kit is a web-based and mobile publishing editor, that can work in tandem with WordPress, and which allows you to work freely on the page by positioning and styling your content in any way you want.

With Scroll Kit you can edit text in-line on the actual page, and move the text in any location you want. Alignment of different text blocks or other objects is made easy by an invisible grid that shows up only when you drag an object around.

It is also possible to style text, change fonts, add images and graphic shapes, as well as embed "iframes", YouTube videos and Twitter content.

A useful feature alllows you to preview how your content will look on mobile devices too.

My comment: Scroll Kit is a good example of a new breed of web publishing editors, which further simplify the editor's job while providing maximum flexibility.

Scroll Kit is a fantastic web design and publishing tool for web designers capable of leveraging its notable power. For those who have no design skills this may not be a great solution as having all this freedom is good only when you know exactly what to do. (Some pro-looking templates may help in this direction - a few are already available, more will hopefully come later)

Here the Scroll Kit Manifesto:

"The web is the most advanced publishing system we've ever had but
the process in which most people publish
is backwards next to print.

On the web, your design is set
before you figure out what you want to say.

This is true for the publishing they do at nytimes.com with their article template and it is true for the publishing you do when you type "happpppy birthday. I luv you" on the facebook page of a good friend. In print, every fiber of the page is yours to define, and on the web, the page belongs to Mark Zuckerberg or whoever coded your template.

You express yourself on the web by filling out text forms.

Another way is possible."

Free to use.
