Shirley Williams (appearoo.com/ShirleyWilliams)'s insight:

The author shares some good quick tips on managing your Google Community - for both your brand and interest.

The tips include

1. Build your own Communities owned by your brand page

2. Post regularly both your own and curated topical content to your Communities

3. Build a strong moderator team

4. Participate as your brand in other Communities5. Invite the outside world to your Community6. Use Communities for customer service

All good points however #4 is a delicate balance. I would advise that this is not about promoting. I would also suggest developing the relationships and contributing before promoting your own community.

A quick informative read.

7/10

YouTube Changes: Everything You Need To Know

YouTube Changes: Everything You Need To Know | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

Aaron Biebert wrote this timely and very helpful piece on his blog 8pmWarrior about all the new changes on Youtube.

YouTube announced changes to channels that feature a news feed integrated with Google+, Twitter, and Facebook for videos shared on other platforms.

Here's an intro:

"I’m sharing from experience as a producer of several online shows and video productions that were created to build community and sell a product in a social savvy way".

Video changes the game.

Here’s why YouTube matters:

**YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world (think SEO)It is the largest video-based social network

**Google+ is now integrated even closer with YouTube for additional community building (more on the way)

**YouTube is simple to use and even offers a free video editing feature Video is perfect for the Attention Era

Lots of valuable "how-to" information here.

Aaron says:

"If you have any questions about the new YouTube upgrade, feel free to post the questions below, on the 8pm Warriors Facebook discussion forum, or on twitter @Biebert I'll do my best to answer or point you in the right direction".

SEO: 6 Key Things To Do To Leverage The Merging of Google+ Data into the SERPs

SEO: 6 Key Things To Do To Leverage The Merging of Google+ Data into the SERPs | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

Here six key things you should keep in mind if you want to do SEO optimization that leverages to the max the recent merging of Google+ results into the SERPs:

1) It will be more important than ever to be positively connected to people and influencers within the industries you represent.

2) Treat your Google profile like your own site. Assume that your actions always influence your GPA.

3) Treat +1s like links. Meaning, don’t +1 things that are spammy, because it may adversely affect your GPA.

4) When other sites publish your guest posts, make sure they not only link to your site, but also link to your G+ profile using rel=”author”.

5) Try to have your own content +1′d and shared by as many people as possible.

6) Strive to get links on a profile with an assumed high GPA.

Using Google+ Ripples to Connect with Influencers

Using Google+ Ripples to Connect with Influencers | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

Two weeks ago today, Google released “Ripples” for Google+ and most of the world went on with their daily activities. Personally I thought it was just another one of those features that was interesting but nothing I could really use. That was until this Whiteboard+ video which I filmed with Rand. Both Rand and I were blown away at the amount of data a Ripple gives you and what you can do with it.

What is a Ripple

The definition of a “ripple effect” is: a spreading effect or series of consequences caused by a single action or event. When it comes to Google+ a Ripple is an interactive diagram that shows how a Google+ post spreads as it’s shared by users. You can find the Ripple of any public post using the dropdown to the right of the post...
