The Essential Ingredients for Building a Blog That Ranks in Alexa’s Top 10,000 | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

Having a blog it's good ... that the blog is read is better! Here is a guide that will give you the information needed to make that your blog becomes a comet... :-) [note mg]

Would you like to know how I grew Quick Sprout to have an Alexa ranking of 10,000 in under four years?

That’s not an easy feat. But the cool thing is I didn’t do anything that you can’t do now. My tactics will work for you, too.

How to Build an Engaged Audience with Content Marketing

How to Build an Engaged Audience with Content Marketing | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

Most bloggers are after the same things.

They want traffic to their blogs, comments on their posts, and sales of their products or services.

These are all great goals, but they’re really just symptoms of something else: having an engaged and responsive audience.

You can’t have a lot of consistent traffic, comments, or sales without a great audience — your traffic source will dry up sooner or later (AdWords, anyone?), your commenters will stop commenting, and your sales will disappear.

But what if you don’t have an audience at all? How do you build an engaged audience if you’re starting from scratch?

That’s the question that I asked 30 different audience-building masters. Let’s take a look at their answers to these questions…

38 Brilliant Bloggers Talk About StumbleUpon

38 Brilliant Bloggers Talk About StumbleUpon | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

StumbleUpon is the ultimate time waster (and I mean that in a good way!). If you don’t have the toolbar installed, I suggest you do so – it’s your portal to lots of amazing things on the Internet that you’d never find otherwise. You just set your parameters and hit the Stumble button…be warned that it’s easy to spend hours surfing this way.

If you have a hit on StumbleUpon, you can bring in thousands of new visitors – and while traffic does spike, it also continues over time as long as people keep giving you the thumbs up of approval (like a Facebook “like”). Be warned, though – the user’s mouse usually hovers on the Stumble button, so if you don’t catch their attention quickly, they’ll be on to the next random page on the Internet...

Blog Optimization: 5 Tips To Boost Your Blog Conversion Rates | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

If you’re blog is your “business” and it doesn’t convert, you don’t have a business!

How’s that for the start of a blog post? I know – not very encouraging, especially if you’ve been struggling with the concept of conversions recently.

Don’t worry, by the end of this blog post, you’ll know what you need to do to increase your conversion rates now!

In an interview with Derek Halpern, creator of Social Triggers, he shared five tips with me that anyone can use to increase your blog’s conversion rates, and I want to share them with you.

Analyzing The New Twitter Redesign And What It Means For Users

Analyzing The New Twitter Redesign And What It Means For Users | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

The redesign that Twitter has undergone this time around is a marked shift from the past. Up until now, Twitter had stuck to its design elements and at most had tweaked them for better usability. This time though, the changes are significant and going by the number of changes that we see, brands as well as users are in for a big surprise and could radically change the way the micro-blogging site is used on an everyday basis.

With over 100 million users and the competition heating up, the change was imminent and perhaps arrives at the time when advertisers are warming up to the idea of advertising on Twitter. The site has grown 25% since October and has in fact become a featured application on both the iPad and the iPhone...

How To Change From A Social Media User Into A Social Media Leader

How To Change From A Social Media User Into A Social Media Leader | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

I created and then abandoned a Twitter account many months ago. I had virtually zero reputation outside of Twitter when I started. And it wasn’t an account that became popular by following everyone back or using other tricks. On the abandoned account, all tweets were removed except one, which said:

Do not follow this account, follow this other account instead.

However, nearly 100,000 people followed the old account in the coming months (though many figured out their error eventually, and switched to the new one). That’s the power of a leader’s reputation in social media. Reputation can bring people to you even after you have left...

65 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

65 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog | Social Media Pearls | Scoop.it

What is the best way to drive traffic to my site? What’s the fastest way to generate traffic to my site? What’s…?

We all want to know the best way to drive the greatest amount of traffic to our sites. However, the truth is that there is no best or fastest way to drive traffic! What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa. Just because I manage to get 500 visitors a day from an article I submitted to article directories doesn’t mean you can get that much traffic doing the same thing.

Of course, there are some traffic generation methods that produce better results than others. But again, it all depends on you and your situation...
