Social commerce has come a long way, says SCVNGR chief Seth Priebatsch, but it's still too difficult to convert online purchases and rewards into real-world acquisitions. Forcing customers to show their phones to cashiers or, worse, to print physical coupons in order to claim discounts is as archaic as sending a letter through traditional mail, Priebatsch argues. "The next wave of opportunity will arise as we reduce the friction between digital action and transactional reward," he says.
