This article shows how Snapchat will be integrating a new advertisement system that could potentially value the app at $25B.

 

Snapchat seems to be  hitting an advertising sweet spot between "not enough information to make big money" and "a scary amount of information that makes big money" by partnering with Oracle Data Cloud, targeting consumers by advertising based on consumers offline purchases and loyal reward programs they are part of. 

CEO of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel said "We're going to stay away from building really extensive profiles on people because that's just bad and doesn't feel very good" . By using limited information and not creating individual profiles on each customer, Snapchat will be able to advertise to the right target audience without scaring them away.


This article was short, and could have been elaborated on. It also used a quote from two years ago, which makes readers wonder if business goals have changed since then. That said, the content was interesting and informative, not to mention it is very relatable, as an avid social media user frequently astonished at aggressive ad campaigns on other platforms.
