How To Get More Out of Triberr

How To Get More Out of Triberr | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

Triberr’s Mantra

Triberr’s mantra (or mission statement, if you went to business school :-p ) is to help bloggers be succesful.

And to bloggers, “successful” means three things:

Content distribution Content generation Engagement

1. Content Distribution

This is where Triberr began.

Triberr enables bloggers to form tribes and effectively establish a long-term Tear 1 supporter networks.

Since everyone on Triberr is a blogger -and therefore audience builder- each share is worth much more than a share by your average Joe Facebook user. Gross generalization of course, but accurate for our purposes.

10 Awesome Free Tools To Make Infographics

10 Awesome Free Tools To Make Infographics | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

Maybe you want create your own infographic, here 10 tools to support you to do it. [note mg]

Information graphics, visual representations of data known as infographics, keep the web going these days. Web users, with their diminishing attention spans, are inexorably drawn to these shiny, brightly coloured messages with small, relevant, clearly-displayed nuggets of information. They’re straight to the point, usually factually interesting and often give you a wake-up call as to what those statistics really mean.

Who can resist a colourful, thoughtful venn diagram anyway? In terms of blogging success, infographics are far more likely to be shared than your average blog post. This means more eyeballs on your important information, more people rallying for your cause, more backlinks and more visits to your blog. In short, a quality infographic done well could be what your blog needs right now.

That could be very interesting to know how do that. [note mg]

Have you seen those pre-written “tweet this” links and buttons that some websites use to make sharing a tweet much faster, and give additional control to the website that created it? I’m going to show you how to make a Pre-Formatted Re-Tweet Link or Button. When a user clicks on it they will be taken to their Twitter account with your message already filled in. All that is left for them to do is send the tweet! It’s useful in several situations, and isn’t the same as the stock Twitter Re-Tweet button.

Twitter is becoming known as the place to get news before it even becomes news. Getting news before everyone else has made it a premiere place to look for content, which by default has made it a premiere place to share content.

Plan on a #SocialMediaFail | Social Media Explorer

Plan on a #SocialMediaFail | Social Media Explorer | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

Nowhere do the mistakes, poor practices and questionable judgement of individuals, organizations and brands get exposed with such glee as they do in the sphere of the social web. It’s no wonder some CEOs or senior decision-makers entrusted with the stewardship of brands break out in a cold sweat at the simple mention of the words “social media.”

Mark Schaefer wrote a great post about Negativity Bias as it relates to the social web and how this phenomenon has created a playing field rife with PR land mines for anyone active in the space. Schaefer sparks dialogue at the end of his post by posing the following question:

“In a world where Negativeity Bias is gasoline on a viral fire, and one misstep can overwhelm years of positive work cultivating raving fans, why would anybody take a risk on the social web?”

52 Questions To Ask When Hiring A Social Media Company

52 Questions To Ask When Hiring A Social Media Company | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

As a specialist in social media you should be able to answer these 52 questions ... and if you are looking for a company that will take care of your social media, you should ask them... there's a lot of work ahead! [note mg]

Confession time: I have a really hard time getting started. There’s just something about those awkward first steps that makes me delay projects as long as I possibly can. For example, last month I finally fixed the check engine light in my car so that I could get it inspected. It was actually pretty excited since the light had been on since October.

Of 2008. I wish I was kidding.

It’s not that I’m irresponsible, that I don’t value my safety or even that I didn’t know I was potentially creating a bigger problem – it’s that taking the first step and committing to something is scary. And it’s especially scary if you don’t know where to start. Because the not knowing makes you feel dumb. And no one likes to feel dumb.

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it
Large-scale waves of Facebook comments can come at any time, for a variety of reasons. Try these steps for effective comment management.

Human beings are social by nature, and not surprisingly, we choose to spend much of our talkative time on Facebook.

Comscore released data in December 2011 that showed Facebook is virtually synonymous with social media. Worldwide, people spend three out of every four minutes of their total social networking time on Facebook.

Check out the recent comment counts on nearly any major Facebook brand Page — the numbers get big very quickly. Disney’s image of Happy, the dwarf from Snow White earned over 1,600 comments at the time of publication. Coca-Cola asked fans whether they have ice-cold Cokes in their fridges – 2,170+ comments.

The Top Ten Social Media Lessons of 2011

The Top Ten Social Media Lessons of 2011 | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

As the holiday season prepares to give way to the New Year’s Eve and the end of 2011, the annual influx of year-end lists is about to begin in earnest. Top photos, top news stories, top Kardashian marriages… the lists are on their way. Lest anyone say that social media is any different, here for your consideration, in no particular order, are my Top Social Media Lessons of 2011 – part one today, and part two tomorrow.

Lesson #1: There is a significant amount of social network fatigue.

Google+. Quora. Empire Avenue. Chime.in. Unthink. It seemed in 2011 like there was a new or “hot” social network every month – and watching the social media in-crowd rush to adopt was a sometimes comical diversion. There was certainly an element of “shiny object syndrome” at play in the social media world...

Analyzing The New Twitter Redesign And What It Means For Users

Analyzing The New Twitter Redesign And What It Means For Users | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

The redesign that Twitter has undergone this time around is a marked shift from the past. Up until now, Twitter had stuck to its design elements and at most had tweaked them for better usability. This time though, the changes are significant and going by the number of changes that we see, brands as well as users are in for a big surprise and could radically change the way the micro-blogging site is used on an everyday basis.

With over 100 million users and the competition heating up, the change was imminent and perhaps arrives at the time when advertisers are warming up to the idea of advertising on Twitter. The site has grown 25% since October and has in fact become a featured application on both the iPad and the iPhone...

Music, Film, TV: How social media changed the entertainment experience - Brian Solis | Social Media (network, technology, blog, community, virtual reality, etc...) | Scoop.it

Today everybody should know that social media are much more than a mode effect. This excellent post will convince you, if you aren't yet. [note mg]

Social media is more than a digital water cooler for TV and movies. The global conversation that takes place around events and the experiences people share based on what they watch teaches us about consumer preferences. More importantly, their activity influences behavior. Behavior counts for everything. Studying it is just the beginning of course. In order to understand and eventually steer behavior, we must translate activity into insights and in turn, translate insights into actionable strategies and programs.

The Hollywood Reporter recently published an exclusive poll about social media led by market research firm Penn Schoen Berland. As the report opens, THR notes, “There’s a sea change afoot in how Americans discover and consume entertainment.”

According to the study, 88% of respondents view social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook as a new form of entertainment.

Last month, Guy was interviewed (that happens a lot) in Inc. Magazine about social media, as was asked whether entrepreneurs should hire a consultant and develop a social media strategy. A great post about various subject as: SEO, Content Management, Conversions and a lot more. Very interesting. [note Martin Gysler]

I was clearly under-prepared for the amazing responses. In order to tackle such a magnitude of great questions, I'm giving myself some rules for replies.

If I don't have a good answer, I won't tackle the question. For example, Nathaniel Deal asked a good one on .NET viewstates impacting SEO, and while I'd love to reply, I don't know enough about them to provide solid suggestions. No answer can be longer than two paragraphs (plus maybe an explanatory image/graphic). Everyone who asked a great question gets their tweet embedded in this post (using Twitter's nice, new embed functionality), which also gives a spiffy followed link to their tweet. Where possible, I'll provide links to content for more detail so those who are particularly interested can follow up.

Let's get started!
