You’ve seen Stephen Spielberg’s film, Minority Report, right? Tom Cruise’s character stands in front of virtual screens, puts on a pair of gloves, and manipulates the data and the memories without touching a thing. Well, the super brains at MIT’s media lab have taken the first step toward that reality, using Apple’s magical device as a display screen and a special glove/attachment combo to interact with it. The video the group has released shows some pretty fancy stuff, drawing objects in 3D real time, and then manipulating them in collaboration with others. There’s even some slick Minority Report-style interface there, with researches moving red and blue rectangles around in the virtual space they’ve created on the iPad. On the eve of National Small Business Week, Paychex, a provider of payroll and human resources services to small- and medium-size businesses, compiled information to show just what small businesses mean to the economy.
The results found that small businesses have anything but a small impact on job growth and economic development.
An estimated 50 million people are employed by small businesses, a large portion of which (20 million) work at companies with 20 employees or less.
Those 50 million workers employed by small businesses equals out to slightly more than one-quarter of the working population of the United States.
Beyond employing more than a quarter of the population, small businesses also are responsible for generating $11 billion in receipts a year, a number that is higher than the yearly receipts generated by businesses with more than 10,000 employees.
Overall, the $11 billion generated by small businesses represents nearly 40% of all business receipts in the U.S.
"Small businesses do more than provide services and products; they strengthen and shape our communities, our economy, philanthropic efforts and innovation," said Martin Mucci, president and CEO of Paychex.

There are just so many social sharing buttons these days, and content marketing is more important than ever.
**As a user, it has created a moment of decision of choosing which channel to share a particular news story, or cute video.

Over the weekend, Microsoft quietly launched an experimental social network called So.cl. which combines facets of social networking, search, and media sharing with a user interface resembling Google+.
Users are encouraged to search for information about a particular topic, then compile the best results - textual content, images and videos - into a single post.
So.cl is initially targeted to students. It may end up being useful to that market, but it's unlikely to get traction as a mainstream social network.
