This article is something that all small businesses looking to use social media as a form of marketing should read.  Yes, there are the basic ways to measure the way that people are looking at their pages but these tools go above and beyond those basic metrics.  It is important for a company to track the changes in their site with views because without tracking this how would a person know if their content is actually reaching the necessary market.  While working on a course assignment we had to track our social media sites but we were just using the basic metrics that came on the site.  We saw that the content had to be visually appealing other ways our market had no desire to look at it and it reached absolutely no one, or only a few.

This article discusses how a company can use Google Analytics to track the traffic of the wesite.  It has many different ways in which it can do this.  There are 10 tools that can be used and they are audience location, used to discover the geographic location of the site views; audience engagement, shows the length of time that the viewer was on the site; mobile traffic behavior, measuring the traffic on the mobile site; traffic sources, shows how people are finding the site; social media traffic, the traffic directly related to social media; site content trends, all performance of sites in a time period; page bounce rates, the success and failure; site search behavior, visitors intent; events, on site activity; and funnel visualization, effectiveness on a specific goal.  This article was very useful to read because we will be using Google Analytics when we are working on our marketing plan so getting to know all the ins and outs will be very helpful.
