Yes, I think it is ok if you share in signatures or business cards. But I am not an expert on Google, so maybe someone will have a better answer for you?

Google+: One of Today's Top Social Media Traffic Sources | Entrepreneur Blog | Social Media Marketing Scoop | Scoop.it
Google+ has become a great source of engagement and one of the top social media traffic sources.
PortMacOnline's insight:

This is a great article on how to use Google+, Google's own competitor to Facebook. Just over twelve months ago I predicted that Google+ would become the biggest social media platform out there, simply because it WAS owned by Google, and they HAD to make it succeed after Google Buzz died a horrible death.

It has taken a while for Google+ to take off, mostly because everyone and their mother are already invested in Facebook, but Google will continue to expand and improve it, and one of the game breakers is the new Google Hangouts. Check it out, it is a cross between GoToWebinar and Skype, you can have up to ten or twelve active people on a conference call at a time, and thousands watching, so it is great for product launches, or how-to training, and it is FREE!

Social Search & the future of SEO

Social Search & the future of SEO | Social Media Marketing Scoop | Scoop.it

How does social fit into the worlds of SEO and search? Bing's Duane Forrester and Catalysts' Dan Cristo highlighted the major changes in the industry at SES NY.

Metadata, title tags, etc. were once the gold standard of SEO, but now they’re the base line. The reality: If there is a big collection of people talking about a person, search engines are drawn to the person or site to try and understand what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately, the technology to truly hone in on these conversations and chatter remains in infancy.

This is something that we have been preaching for the last few years! Social media is becoming more and more important to the search engines every day. And now this is straight from the horse's mouth.

Not sure how important social signals are as of yet. Matt Cutts has even said that it'll be years before links are replaced with social signals
Daniel Imbellino's comment, April 18, 2013 1:24 PM
Actually Brian, Matt Cutts recently stated in a video on Youtube that Google does takes social signals into heavy consideration when evaluating the worth of our content. In fact he stated they always have. I just watched the video about 3 weeks ago. In another video Matt Cutts even stated they are more concerned with identifying what people like or dislike, which is why they created the +1 button. When you +1 something on the web, you are recommending it to anyone in your Google+ circles, both on G+ and organic search. And, the +1 button also helps Google to gage the overall importance of an author and content online. Many links themselves are also coming from social networks, and all links on Google+ are "dofollow". Dont believe me? Go to your webmaster tools account check the links pointing to your site, Google+ links are weighted like any others. Also, they are crawled by Bing as well, and Bing does count backlinks from G+. So your assertions I'm afraid are not accurate.

This could develop into a very handy app for collaboration between staff in a business, teachers and students, businesses and clients, etc. But be warned, at the moment it is Apple-only, even though Android versions are reportedly being developed.

Definitely one to check out if you are an Apple user, and one to keep an eye on if you are not.

PortMacOnline's insight:

This is a great example of how NOT to use social media! Yes, you CAN buy 'friends', or 'followers', but don't you think that the social media moguls would know about these scammers, and punish you for using them to artificially grow your following?

Far better to keep publishing quality content that readers will WANT to read, then they will follow you, and tell their friends, and your following, your 'tribe', will grow naturally, and your tribe will be interested in what you have to say.

Tthen the 'KLT' factor will kick in (Know, Like, Trust) and people will be more likely to buy whatever you are selling, and like it or not, we are ALL trying to sell something!  :-)

How Does Social Media Marketing Generate Return... | Social Media Marketing Scoop | Scoop.it
Return on marketing investment (ROMI) is a parameter used to determine and measure the success of an online marketing campaign. (How Does Social Media Marketing Generate Return on Marketing Investment?
PortMacOnline's insight:

This is one of the most controversial aspects of social media marketing -- "How can I tell if it is working?". The short answer is to measure everything, and not just for a month or so, because it takes a while for your name or brand to filter out into the webiverse.

But stick with it, and you will see a gradual rise in views, followers, and eventually more sales at the register. And at the end of the day that is what we all want -- more money in the register!
